Yea, IMO Collins did fine at RT. He went up against one of the best edge rushers in the league, that knew we had to pass.

What scares me is that the coaching staff takes such a one-dimensional approach.

They want to set the tone by pounding Zeke early, maintain ball control, take the lead, and hold on from there.

But any time a variation from that initial plan occurs, all h*** breaks loose. They have no idea how to make adjustments whatsoever.

I agree. If this becomes a trend I'll feel differently but it's the NFL and this stuff does happen. It's all about how you bounce back and respond. The next 2 games, while presenting challenges of their own are also an opportunity to get back on track. Well see.

I think I somehow accidentally logged into bizarro-Zone today somehow. I gotta check my links. :)

I think he is just playing the ...I will take the opposite side of the general consensus just to be a rebel approach.

When things are ok or good...I will complain beyond measure.

When things suck...I will talk positive and try to be a big brother shoulder to lean on.

I am not falling for it. :D

No, I think you are both in the right place....:muttley:....maybe more like a twilight Cowboys Zone....well, that may be usual too....

We'll see. If Risen Star admits he's wrong about anything, or stash gives up another losing argument without a fight, or Trouty starts posting about how he's actually getting sick of beer, or haley rules starts defending Jason Garrett, I'll know something is definitely up. I have my suspicions now, though.

The DL Penalty for leverage really killed our momentum. That is when the game went out of control IMO. I'm not blaming DL for the loss, just my observation.

We were very much in the game and kept the game competitive until the leverage penalty killed our momentum and gave Denver a fresh set of downs which led to a touchdown.
And followed quickly with a ticky tack OPI on a third down conversion. Inexcusable but they pretty much gave up after that.

The defense been rebuilding since the historically bad 2013 season.

2014
2015
2016
Now 2017

Please let me know when it's reasonable to expect the rebuilding effort to reach fruition.

I'm guessing two games into replacing the entire starting secondary isn't that time, but I get the frustration. The Cowboys haven't had a championship caliber defense for several years.

Miller didn't have any tackles or sacks until late in the game when it was already decided so Collins didn't do as bad as some say.
Collins did fine.

He was gassed late in the game.

I didn't think the Cowboys would go up there and win. I thought it was an uphill climb from the beginning.

The problem was that they didn't compete. That was the most disappointing thing to me.

The Eagles lost in KC. But they competed. GB lost in Atlanta. But they competed.

Dallas looked like they didn't belong on the same field with Denver. They didn't compete.

That really bothers me.
Bingo!

This is really annoying, but I'll do it anyway. Because some of the things I am reading on here are ridiculously overboard. let me be the voice of positive reason with this loss for once.

Let me first say that I agree with most of what people are saying. Cowboys looked awefull, the defense was horrid and it was an all around beat down. But let me try to put it into perspective for some. Typically the people that are most upset were those that were unrealistic to begin with.

1. Going into Denver is no joke. Anyone that thought it was going to be a cake walk was kidding themselves. Not many people go up there and win lately. That defense is as good as it gets.

2. Simien isn't as horrid as we we're led to believe and they can run the ball this year. CJ Anderson is a good back. That guy would rack up 1600 yards no problem behind our line. And without the suspensions, 4th overall pick, and giving up half way through the game like Zeke did.

3. D Lawrence is balling. Two games now. Albeit against lower end tackles, but you cant discount his disruption. He is EXACTLY what we have needed off the edge

4. I would love to see what him and Irvin could do as bookends in a couple games when Irvin comes back

5. What some people need to understand is that for the most part, in the last two years, this defense has begun a total and compete overhaul. They are rebuilding. Anyone that thought these rookie Dbacks were going to hold their own this year was kidding themselves. Doesnt work like that. I like these draft picks. A few should stick into talented starters. NOt all, but one or two. That is all you can hope for. Maybe by years end of they can stay healthy they will settle in.

6. That pick from Lewis this week was great to see. No way any of the old cronies makes that pick last year. havent seen a quality pick like that in years. This may be what we have to look forward to consistently. But NEXT year and the year after possibly. These young guys have to get their confidence. And with the injuries and time lost it makes it even more difficult.

7. I thought Dak played valiantly. We saw what it would be look like if Dak played on a bad offense with a bad line, no run game, and pressure all the time. Not as pretty. But he hung in there big time and delivered as best he could. And they were in his face hitting him all day. Couldnt get him to fumble, didnt look rattled at all, and was hard to sack. And despite 2 picks, which for my money is more Dez, he kept the ball out of harms way rather then throw into good coverage. Romo would have had 4 picks and 2 fumbles yesterday. And he would be out for the season.

8. Collins looked really good against Miller yesterday. Those two sacks were both coverage sacks

9. It was great to get embarrassed like this early in the season. We will bounce back and not be so cocky. Blue collar is what we need.

The bad I will just mention in names:

Dez, Heath, Byron Jones, The use of Zeke and lack of creativity, Zeke attitude and giving up, coaching preparedness, lack of speed at WR and a big play threat.
Shut the hell up!!!!! Just messing with you, I'm glad someone is looking for silver linings.

Thank you. Again. No one really talks about how putrid this defense that's hanging by a thread is.

I hate people

Take everything away and they would all get their *** kicked!

Every time Brady's been under pressure his *** has gone down in the playoffs

I'll take that a step further Roy.
Last time Tom Brady played that Denver defense (Jan. 2016), he was 26 of 57 with 1 TD and 2 ints.
QBR of 36
Sacked 4 times
Average pass completion 5.5 yards

I never thought we were winning the SB anyway this year. And we can see how bad the Giants really are. So that first game was no indication at all.

Collins was NOT good against Miller...he simply wasn't. Heath and Jones are a total disaster. Dez is a #2 but that isn't as big a problem as Heath & Jones sucking and Zeke quitting.

This is a Garrett rebuild
It's a process of stacking and hoping something sticks at some point randomly
No timeframe can be provided

Please check reality and reason at the door

Well Collins did better than one would think against the best pass rusher in the league.

Our safeties do suck, nothing new there. We do have to upgrade our receiver corps, some say to replace Butler but we actually need someone with speed and the potential to be a #1 out the draft. We need alot of help on D, but receiver is our biggest concern on offense.

I agree. Our last three games there has been one very strange hard to justify call each game. The fake pretend substitution and this leverage call killed our momentum. The "he gave himself up" one on Switzer was fun for the refs, but not really that big of a deal.
