Forgot a positive noone has mentioned.......we are tied for the lead in our division and there are only 3 teams in the NFC that are 2-0.

Yeah I know it doesn't sound like it around here.

The DL Penalty for leverage really killed our momentum. That is when the game went out of control IMO. I'm not blaming DL for the loss, just my observation.

We were very much in the game and kept the game competitive until the leverage penalty killed our momentum and gave Denver a fresh set of downs which led to a touchdown.

I thought that call, than the BS offensive pass interference on Dez on Dallas' next possession was the final nail in the coffin.

If the FG holds and the refs don't call that offensive PI on Dez, it is 10-7 and Dallas is in Denver territory with only 4 minutes left in the half. Suddenly Dallas has a shot to get some momentum.

I am not going to blame the refs, bad calls happen and the Broncos played better, but those 2 calls turned a most likely close game into a blow out.

Well Collins did better than one would think against the best pass rusher in the league.

Our safeties do suck, nothing new there. We do have to upgrade our receiver corps, some say to replace Butler but we actually need someone with speed and the potential to be a #1 out the draft. We need alot of help on D, but receiver is our biggest concern on offense.

Remember what David Irving did in Bucs' game last year? I guess Collins knows that poor Bucs' RT's feeling now.

One thing positive from this debacle is that it revealed Dak's true color. He fought hard till the last play. This is the kind of leadership we need.

Good post by the OP.

I did not have a good feeling most of the week about this game. Just did not feel right at all. No one ever likes a loss but I think this one does the following:

Not too damaging a loss as it's an out of conference loss.

First game in the NFL for the new kids Dak and Zeke where they got their back side completely kicked. Maybe that sobers up some of the "I'm all that" attitude with a few players or the thought process of some fans.

If you're still hanging on to 13-3 from last year you need to let go. Defense is being rebuilt. Secondary full of learning kids who hopefully get coached up well and learn quickly. The D against the Giants but this D will be inconsistent all year. Offense will need to outscore teams in shootouts most of the year I feel.

Oline should take this game very personal. I want to see what attitude it brings to the Arizona game.

The defense been rebuilding since the historically bad 2013 season.

2014
2015
2016
Now 2017

Please let me know when it's reasonable to expect the rebuilding effort to reach fruition.
Clearly still a work in progress:muttley:

certainly better (or with more potential) than those 2011-2013 defenses though.

Whenever they stop drafting poorly?...............................a couple years after that.

They always seem to go for the home run/risk/measurables project guys. Just take the damn tough football player. Who cares if he isnt prototype athlete.

Taco and Byron Jones are examples for me of guys taken that have all the look and the measurables that they think Marinelli can just "coach up".

We passed up on King the CB, Watt, and another linebacker from what I recall. Take the football player.

It's tough to find a can't miss homerun prospect late in the first round.

Been rebuilding since Garrett took over. Not trying to knock Garrett here. But seems there is always an area of lack of players or depth. though this seems to be the deepest we been in years. Just need to see it all come together. I think there will be a few more growing pains games yet. But more good than bad on the horizon.

The entire defense is thin.

I think we're going to find out that Denver and Trevor Siemian aren't that good. We just let them totally out scheme us. Which is the hallmark of the Garrett era.
I think we're gonna find out it was merely game two out of a 16 game season. Just sayin.

People expecting this to be a blip on the radar dland flip a switch like Greenbay don't realize who we have at head coach.

Greenbay can suck half the season then go undefeated because Rodgers can decide he wants to start throwing 90mph darts 50 yards downfield on a dime and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

We have Jason Garrett.

Well, Cowboys scored more points against Denver in the loss that the Giants have scored all year. There's a positive for ya.

Collins was NOT good against Miller...he simply wasn't. Heath and Jones are a total disaster. Dez is a #2 but that isn't as big a problem as Heath & Jones sucking and Zeke quitting.

I read a little more on Collins. I think he held his own against the best pass rusher in football. I give him a solid B.

People find them every year in all rounds. We have done it. A picks a good one or it isn't. My contention is the project types over the football types.

Bruce Carter (red shirt/average player)/Trade up for Claiborne (way overpriced), Escobar (who?), Gregory (exhale cough cough), Smith (red shirt/risk/jury still out). Awuzie (too early to tell)

Without Demarcus Lawrence, the second round has not been as fruitful as the second round should be. Your post speaks exactly to the cause. It's a bad risk reward formula the front office has been using. One would think they'd learn from their success in the first round.

If not for some gems in the later rounds, this front office still acts like they just can't help themselves chasing those shiny lures.

I agree. Our last three games there has been one very strange hard to justify call each game. The fake pretend substitution and this leverage call killed our momentum. The "he gave himself up" one on Switzer was fun for the refs, but not really that big of a deal.
Some people underestimate the power of momentum.

We became 1 dimensional against a team that is the best in the NFL at covering so i'm not going to be too hard on Collins.

Totally agree, I've been critical of Collins' consistency but he handled Miller until the game was a blowout. Miller did nothing until he knew the Cowboys were going to run every play and even then, he was jumping offsides to try to get an advantage on Collins. Guys like Miller don't do that against mediocre OTs.

Meh, I agree with some of the OP, but Dak was off all day and has been both games. The pick six was all Dak's fault. the first pick was on Dez. the OL did not come to play and I suspect the Defense did not either, reading their press clippings and believing Trevor was not that good
