Cee Dee Lamb and Michael Gallup are not what I would call "possession receivers", meaning, they don't fight for the ball. If a defender breaks on the pass, a good possession receiver uses his body to block him off while making the catch. Who can forget the touchdown Michael Irvin scored in the Super Bowl vs Buffalo, where he used his leg to block a defender from making a move on the ball, then dove towards the end zone? A great receiver protects the ball because he feels it is his and no one else's.Dak threw some balls today that were shambolic - upon review nobody is open !
There’s no separation- no speed no height .
Even on his first big throw to CD - it was an ill advised double coverage force in.
Going forward - the secondaries get tougher - Philly NY etc .
We need a legit WR here @ the deadline.
These two guys simply let them go by and grab the ball.
Today they nearly cost the Cowboys; fortunately the passes fell incomplete. But against the Eagles those opportunities became interceptions that the Eagles capitalized on.
I don't think the Cowboys have anticipated this problem.
This is why I think Cooper Rush had success more than Dak. I think Cooper's style and accuracy helped.
But these receivers aren't good. Noah Brown seems to be the best, but I worry Dak will get him hurt leading him into traffic like he did today.
We'll see.
