That was answered already. When Glenn was inside asking Carl where he'd found the prisoners and such. At the end he asked whose on watch? Obviously no one was because they were all in there together. They'd already got themselves into position, I'd imagine just around the tree line, and were watching the prison when Glenn went out and got in the truck and stuff later. I'd imagine that they didn't just drive up and instantly start attacking. They were probably just barely out into the trees, watching, for a while before they even bothered to start shooting.

And the way the landscape is portrayed on the show, there is a good distance between the main building of the prison and the first gate. And the pickup was even further away.

Heck, there are many times when I drive down our driveway, which is about 25' from our living room and my wife didn't hear the car.

Great episode I thought. Rick is now on the verge of full meltdown all out war on the Governor methinks.

Since I can't stand how show's move the story along so slowly (not just TWD... all shows) I think I'm gonna save up the last episodes till the season ends and watch them all together so I don't have to wait a week between episodes. :D

Probably gonna be held up in the field the next few weeks anyway.

I don't like how they were all firing at eachother from long distance (200 meters or more) and they had their weapons on full auto or 3 round burst.

I swear, I'm no sniper or anything but with basic rifle marksmanship I learned in the army I could have easily taken out all the Governor's men (especially the governor standing out in the open like a moron) and I would have used no more than 6 rounds total. That crap bugs me.

Also... realistically hiding behind a car door or any other thin sheet metal would to ABSOLUTELY nothing for you. Bullets go through sheet metal rather easily. So when Maggie was hiding behind the metal file cabinet I was thinking "Oh she's dead", but of course the bad guys bullets mystically didn't penetrate the thin sheet metal.

If metal were that strong we wouldn't have to worry about IED's in the middle east cuz those fully up armored (real armor, not sheet metal) get torn to BITS easily. So yeah... sheet metal is useless for taking cover.

what i found odd was the only "good" shot was by a right handed person using their left eye.

Let's talk about two things in last night's show that caught my attention, one was very good and one wasn't...

First the bad...

Wow! did they blow through their allotment of prisoners in no time at all or what? By wasting these secondary characters so quickly after they're introduced will start to train us to expect it. Personally I would have liked to have seen the character (Axel) hang around a little longer.

Now the good...

The Dixon brother's exchange may have been the best so far this season– great writing and acting in that sequence.

Final point...

Can Merle end up thriving on the "good" side?

Probably not. :laugh2: But it should make for an interesting story line.

Great point. It's not like it's unheard of for people to not hear a car pull up when it's right outside, let alone a distance away from the part of the prison that they were in there talking inside of.

Agree on the Dixon brother exchange. I thought it was one of the better and more meaningful parts of the season thus far.

Its also funny that you bring up the thing about Merle cause I was talking with my wife about that today. I think he's actually going to wind up being a good character but what I think will happen is it will be slow to a degree.

He's going to be his usual self but start showing more and more good and just about the time it's obvious that he's become really good, and accepted, I believe he's going to get killed. Something inside me just says that the Govenor will wind up killing him and causing Darryl to have his own mental explosion for the series.

That's just what I'm thinking at this point anyway.

Yeah, Merle could be doing a "baby-face" turn as they would call it in wrestling.

And just like wrestling when a guy does that he gets more "pop" than the other "baby-faces".

But like you said it could take a while and on this show everyone kinda flip-flops between good & bad.

The biggest loss character wise to me thus far (through the first two seasons) was the surprise death of Dale. I hated that because I loved that character. I hated to see him killed off and especially under the circumstances where he was angry and hurt by the group wanting to kill a person.

Agree with you on the Dale character.

He went way too early.

The actor, Jeffrey DeMunn, who played him supposedly got caught up in the Darabont firing after the 1st season, being in several of the movies that Darabont has done.

I can't imagine anyone playing the Dale character any better what DeMunn did.

I agree hated that Dale died. They way he died was horrible and disturbing.

They even said (the producers) that the younger sister's boyfriend was suppose to be found by Dale out in the field having been disembowled by a zombie... and not the cow, meaning Dale wasn't suppose to be offed at that point.

I still think that was one of the most convoluted kills in the entire series, i.e. the desiccated zombie holding a full-grown man down and with one hand tearing open his abdomen.

But it seems the whole Darabont thing creeped up and Dale's character was removed.

I think that's why the Herschel character made it off the farm alive.

Was Dale suppose to lose his leg instead of Herschel?

That was Allen who lost his leg in the graphic novel.

Dale DID have his leg amputated in the comics and in the prison. As soon as I saw hershel get that I knew they moved it from Dale's character.

Later in the comics dale gets bit again and then he is taken by the cannibals who take off his other leg and eat it. He wakes up and starts laughing telling them that he was infected.

So he loses both legs.

The death of Dale is my absolute least favorite part of the show thus far. I was by far the most saddened by his death out of any of the deaths in the whole show. There have been some very sad deaths, Sophia and Lori, but to me the loss of Dale was the worst.

That's a pretty good list of sad deaths.

On my list I would need to add the death (re-death?) of the "bicycle girl" zombie from the first episode. It wasn't so much she was put down but Rick saying, "I'm sorry this happened to you" before he did it.

To me that was the stage setter for his personna. And it was the first "punch to the gut" that the undead were just regular folks at one point.

Watch the season 2 webisode on AMC.com you see the full story about that lady. Very sad

It's even more so if you watch the season 2 webisode online where you see who that lady was and how she came to be there. It makes it so much more sad.

And I completely agree that it's the first 'big' moment in what you will come to know as the character of Rick. It set the tone for exactly the kind of character he was going to be.
