Doesnt matter who the coach is if we dont fix the D and O lines along with better safety play.

I think Gruden could bring something to the team and bring out the best in the players. He's got my vote.

You may be right, but I respectfully disagree. I think he'd do well set first, but he'd wear out his welcome pretty quick. He bought himself some good will in Tampa by winning a SB, but most down there thought he did it with Dungy's players, and in the end, they couldn't wait to get rid of him. And as I've said before, I don't think he really wants to coach anymore, not without a lot of money and total control.

I think he would take this job in a second.

For some reason I have the feeling that Jerry might go for someone at the college level such as Kevin Sumlin at Texas A&M. Sumlin has been successful at every place he has been and does an excellent job of formulating an offensive gameplan (which would be nice for a change) as well as motivating his players. That being said, I still think it would be better to hire someone like Gruden or even Cowher if they could be enticed to get back into the coaching profession. If we cannot get either of those two, a name I would like to see interviewed would be the 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. I think a defensive minded head coach who would bring toughness and physicality like Fangio would do wonders for this team similar to when the 49ers hired Harbaugh.

I like Red but it looks like this team needs another major shakeup once again. In Grudens favor is that he likes Romo and we all know that Romo aint going anywhere. If not Gruden then who? Im even down with a college coach at this point, say goodbye to a lot of the core players if we do in fact get a new coach.

I like Stanford coach David Shaw. Sadly I don't think he has the clout to get the personal he would need with Jones as the GM.

Uh... Callahan was Gruden's offensive coordinator with the Raiders... Sorry, but we need a coach that let's it fly...

I believe Jon Gruden will get the respect from the players and will quickly bond with Romo...who isn't going anywhere. I like Shaw, but I'm worried he'll be too grateful to coach the Cowboys and could easily turn into Jerry's puppet. Not sure, if Gruden keeps Kiffin and Callahan around for old time's sakes. They might not want to coach under Gruden again anyway, but I think Marinelli will and should stay to become DC regardless. It's also a possibility, that his Brother Jay Gruden comes in a lateral move from the Bungles to be OC....but who knows.

My problem with Jon Gruden is that I didn't like the way he developed young QB's. His best years he needed Rich Gannon and Brad Johnson. When it came to young QB's, he couldn't find one he could stand. I remember watching him with the Bucs and they had a mic on him in practice. I liked how he talked in practice, but I hated the language of his playbook. Very complicated language and you could see Chris Simms struggle with it. But, you couldn't blame Simms...a lot of the verbiage was unnecessary and confusing.

I like what his brother Jay has done in Cincinnati, but they haven't really taken off either.

I would consider Lovie, but his offenses were terrible in Chicago.

I think I would consider Ray Horton, but I'm not sure he's going to want to run a 4-3.

I'd love for him to win a Superbowl here with someone else's players.

Besides... The team he beat in the Superbowl that year was "his" old team, too.

You really want to hire a 65 year old head coach, that hasn't coached in 5 years? Not sure he wants to enough.

If he could be convinced to come here, yes. Kiffin is 73 and Marinelli is 64. Parcells was in his mid sixties when he coached here. Essentially age isnt really an issue. Holmgren is the man.

Doesn't matter who the coach is unless he's the kind of guy that can tell Jerry to keep his mouth shut and stay out of the way, or get someone else to coach this team, nothing will change.

Fair points. Hey, if he can bring a SB to Dallas, I'm all for it. I like the guy. I just have trouble getting past how things ended for him in TB.

No thanks to the retreads. I don’t follow college football but i would like a guy with a strong personality that can lay down the law and keep Jerry’s butt in check. If you are building your team around Romo, you need to find him a coach that can help and challenge him.

J.T, The Brick was interviewed on the Damon Bruce show about an hour ago and he thinks Jon Gruden will be the next head coach of the Cowboys. He spoke of the Cowboys already having some of his former staff already so it would be an easier transition. The big question is would JJ be "Hands Off" and let the coaches and other football savvy professionals make personel decisions.

There have already been news reports (rumours) about Gruden getting the itch to get back on the sideline.
