The window is closed for the Cowboys

The problem even with a total rebuild is we are stuck with Dak. The ceiling is the playoffs regardless if we draft perfectly or spend a bunch in FA.
I'm wondering are we to simply accept excuses, talk, meltdowns, flaws and mediocrity from the rest of our starting lineups? Just wondering.

There was never a window open for this team. We have built nothing. We have a group of overpaid overhyped guys who are not capable of competing at a level that would allow this team to compete for a title. Making the playoffs and getting bounced in the first round is the best outcome you can hope for.
2014 - 2016 was the window.

Jerry squandered on his pet project and "don't mess with a streak".

Rebuilding is an obsolete term now. The Cowboys have something like 20 free agents this year and had a similar number last year. Every team has turnover because of free agency, retirements, and the salary CAP. The Cowboys need to retool. But their problems are so glaring at this point, rebuilding would seem to be the word to use.

When you have a GM that has no fear of being fired this is what you get. When you have an owner that doesn't value winning this is what you get. This isn't surprising to me at all, and the next 30 years won't be either.

Yup, it was over after thst Packers loss. That was our best chance to make it to the championship game. Dak will be 32 this year, and injuries may be taking a toll
Injuries aren't taking a toll on Dak.
He's just bad .
The window closed when Dak was put back in as starter in 2022 after Rush went 4-1 while he was out.
That year the Cowboys had the best team in the NFC, but with Dak at quarterback they had no chance.
He has never been a good quarterback. He got accolades because the Cowboys played in the weakest division in football.
Jerry nailed the window shut with Dak's last extension.

We aren’t behind Washington yet. We beat them with Rush and would have won again had they started Rush in the 2nd game. We are miles sways from Philly however
We will see next year but I am betting we are behind Washington they have a brilliant Young quarterback and a competent coaching staff that made the playoffs. They will add talent in the draft and possibly free agency.

Your guess is as good as mine what Jerry will feel like doing might as well look into the magic 8 Ball for an answer

That’s how I feel. Even if Jerry and Stephen go crazy in free agency this offseason, I still don’t trust Dak to beat 3 playoff caliber teams and then win a Super Bowl.
He will eventually fold in one of those 4 games.

And in Jerry's mind he's doing the right thing because in most corporations when you are the guy that makes the franchise the most valuable one in your class you can justify not being fired.

In Real world trophies are just consolation prizes money is what it's all about and he who makes the most for his company goes a long way in securing his job

You are assuming that the player who replaces this guy is somehow going to lay out for the franchise. There is no accountability and the coaches are little more than baby sitters in this franchise. So what makes you think it's going to somehow manifest into players trying harder? There is no added incentive to getting trucked over by Kittle.
I'm not assuming I'm just hoping with a whole new group of coaches maybe somebody has a desire to actually win and hold people accountable.

That said Diggs has already proved he's a gutless punk so I'm ready to move on from that.

Leave gutless guys like that on the team and that's what breeds the culture of business decision makers instead of winners he's got to go

Others were criticized as well but QB1 will almost always take most of the blame and rightfully so. If the same dak shows up again next season, this is a historically bad contract

Any form of a rebuild will only be partially effective. The organization has two decision-makers, who will either agree or disagree with the entire management team's choices. That will always be the central roadblock for success. Take player acquisition for example:
  • Scenario #1: Jerry/Stephen agree with the rest of the front office in signing a solid player. Good decision.
  • Scenario #2: Jerry/Stephen disagree with everyone in signing a solid player. Bad decision.
  • Scenario #3: Jerry/Stephen disagree with the front office and sign an average player. Bad decision.
An effective front office involves knowledgeable decision-makers making smart choices throughout the process, top-to-bottom. Jerry and Stephen Jones do not fit the description of qualified professional football executives.

Dallas has been functioning on luck for a very long time. Some seasons have been lucky. Most seasons have not. Ultimate success is difficult when the process depends solely on trial-and-error. And on a butt load of luck too.

Window? Haha that's funny. Cowboys haven't been to the NFC Championship game in 30 years. Last window closed in 95.

This is true we are stuck with dak for a while.
But the plan should be build the trenches strong with draft picks till we can get rid of him and draft a quarterback the year before we're done with him and groom him to take over.

At that point having rebuilt the trenches we should have a stellar offensive line that has played together put on their man weight and be at the top of their game to protect our new franchise quarterback that hopefully we will draft in the first round instead of playing the Blue light special game..
In my opinion this gives us the best chance to win we've started with retooling the coaching staff now it's time to rebuild the team

TRENCHES FIRST!!!!!

Tom Brady ruined Jerry’s perspective on QBs.
Games are won and lost in the trenches.

Even the great Mahomes couldnt overcome that yesterday. A great DL will make any QB look average.

This team should have built around Parsons the year after he was drafted. Instead they drafted a TE who was 24 and did nothing to improve the DL. Mazi Smith was a wasted pick and this team just cant seem to draft DL at all.

Jerral is doubling down on his incompetence. I don't see the Cowboys being a quality playoff team any time soon.

We're only 2 years out. We need to continue to build the offensive and defensive lines. for gods sake, draft a quarterback.
Hire a head coach. let him pick his staff.
2027 here we come.
At least 6 years out
