The window is closed for the Cowboys

Yup, it was over after thst Packers loss. That was our best chance to make it to the championship game. Dak will be 32 this year, and injuries may be taking a toll

And it feels like, per usual, Jerry's not going to notice until it's too late much like with Romo.

Yes they do. We have an aging oft injured QB, a patchwork o line, no running back or tight ends, and nothing in the middle of the D. We’re cooked.
Exactly and we've already started the process by retooling the coaching staff.

The trenches need to be next and then draft a quarterback.

Best way to win a chip with a limited QB is improve and build on the big boys in the trenches, then give said Oline a Elite runner to take advantage of this. This is exactly what Philly did. They took it a step further and built an elite defense too. Especially in the trenches. Hurts is good, but limited. Dak is good, but limited now. No reason we can't win and win alot more with him. If we go about this the right way. Fortifying both lines and the RB position this off-season can change EVERYTHING quick and put us in the conversation. But this will require actually participating in free agency and drafting well.
Why does everyone keep dumping on Hurts? He played great in both SBs he's been in, and has an enviable winning record as a starter. To paraphrase what Buddy Ryan said about Chris Carter, "All he does is win football games."

Rebuilding is an obsolete term now. The Cowboys have something like 20 free agents this year and had a similar number last year. Every team has turnover because of free agency, retirements, and the salary CAP. The Cowboys need to retool. But their problems are so glaring at this point, rebuilding would seem to be the word to use.
You can pretty much call it whatever you want.

Name is not important the process is what matters and it has already started with a whole new coaching staff which means there is a possibility of a new culture so let's start by building the team correctly.

Rebuild the trenches first then draft a quarterback a year or two before we are done with Daks contract.

In a perfect world by the time we're done with dak we should have a pin perfect offensive line able to protect our new franchise quarterback.
Draft some skill players ad free agents to fill the holes and see what happens might be surprising

We aren’t behind Washington yet. We beat them with Rush and would have won again had they started Rush in the 2nd game. We are miles sways from Philly however
Baun, Sweat, Williams are free agents. They’ll be scattering for big contracts elsewhere. NFCE have tough schedules next year. I’d bet only the division winner gets to the playoffs, and that will likely be Washington.

Others were criticized as well but QB1 will almost always take most of the blame and rightfully so. If the same dak shows up again next season, this is a historically bad contract
Can't argue that Dak's play requires assessment or criticism, every play, every game, every season......just will not put all the contract blames just on him. He didn't go in Jerry's office with a ski mask.......let's hoist the generosity to Jerry the GM......we see the team talent disparity and the fact our GM is being outclassed in every way by the Eagles, Commanders.....and just maybe.......the G-Men soon (that would be egregious) in our division.

If many can't see the dysfunction of our franchise always attempting to build and secure a solid football operation and failing routinely over 30 years......I don't know what to tell you. We got the marketing part hands down.

We had 3 12 win seasons that we could have gone all in and done something special.

Jerry chose to not go all in and get all the holes filled as a result we squandered the opportunity.

We paid DAk and we paid CD and the window was closed while the eagles signed Becton, Barclay and drafted gifted players for their defense and built an absolute powerhouse that we stand no chance of being able to compete with.

The mollycoddled Chiefs that were brought along by the league and the refs shouldn't have even been in the same stadium with them.
Their trenches on both sides of the ball were built so bulletproof the Chiefs didn't stand a chance and neither do we.
Next Jerry will lock the window by making Micah the highest paid defensive player in the league and that will be his excuse that we have the highest paid players in the league but can't afford anybody else.

This team needs to be completely blown up and start over. We have started with a new coach now get rid of everything of value that we can get draft picks for and start over because there is absolutely no chance of competing with what we have there aren't enough draft picks or free agents available.

This team needs a complete rebuild your thoughts
No doubt we blew several opportunities the last few years between personnel and coaching decisions. Now as we were sitting back we allowed division rivals to build back up. Certainly disappointing, but I'm also a non-believer in the windows closing. Why? Because teams can turn it around quickly in the NFL and we've seen many examples of that.

I'm not a fan of blowing it up because there are still a number of pieces in place here to build around that are still young.

well, to be clear, there is never a real window with cowboys.
but yeah, whatever little fat chance we had is closed.
Dak is older, less mobile. the team missed two drafts really badly which depleted the cheap talent jerry covets
. jerry refusing to spend in FA.
if we go 7-10 next season we exceed expectations. Philly and now washington leap frogged us.

The problem even with a total rebuild is we are stuck with Dak. The ceiling is the playoffs regardless if we draft perfectly or spend a bunch in FA.
Again and Again and Again. Dak is not the big problem in Dallas. It is Jerry. But if you keep thinking Dak is the problem, then come back in 3 years. Because he is the starting QB and whining about it all day won't do anything.

it hasn't been open since our loss in the div round in 2016 when we were the #1 seed.

When was it open??? Did I miss something?

Someone who really gets it. So rare.

Here is the thing, i think Dak can still win you some games. WE NEED a dominate defense and a GOOD (OG C OG) Combo to keep people out of his lap so he's not scrambling around + gives NEW RB better holes to run through.

so you have to fix Defense front 7 1st. 2nd you have to fix OL. 3rd you have to fix the Running game and find a 2nd WR.

Why does everyone keep dumping on Hurts? He played great in both SBs he's been in, and has an enviable winning record as a starter. To paraphrase what Buddy Ryan said about Chris Carter, "All he does is win football games."

At this point I would take Hurts over Dak all day long. He doesn't have that deer in the headlights like Dak gets in big games. More mobile, younger and stronger. We have the 3rd best QB in the East now .

And we can keep those young players Tyler Smith those rookie offensive lineman from last year might pan out Ferguson our kicker maybe one of the young linebackers that doesn't get injured but from what I see there's not a lot to hang our hat on there really isn't.

And a culture change is truly necessary that means a turnover and personnel

There’s no such thing as a window

You put yourself in position to win superbowls or you don’t

And the only bowl Jerry and Stephen are putting us in is a toilet bowl that’s why they said they like to “hang around the rim”

This team can improve significantly next year. A healthy Dak. Tweaking the O-line, a beefy D tackle, a linebacker who can cover, young hungry CB(draft), a stud RB(draft or FA), A stud#2 WR(draft or FA). I would draft in the first round: either TE Warren, RB Jeanty, Jalon Walker LB, or drop down for WR Burden 111, Alford Collins DT, Mykel Williams DE,. Second round Jaxson Dart (Groom him), or Isaiah Bond Wr.

I like Hurts. I'm not dumping on the guy. I'm just being honest. In years past they would put too much on him, prior to getting Saquan, and he just couldn't pull it off. But now he's shown that he can be an important cog in the clock to get a chip. It's a team game. Without Saquan, there's no chip. That's the truth.
