Long time to go with 5 games left and most likely only favored in one. Whole league down on RB, so wouldn't surprise me to see no RB until late teens. Question is would Dallas even consider a RB in the 1st round.
It’s tough this year.

I think Jeanty is incredible but he’s in overrated territory imo.

Treyveon Henderson in round 2 is my guy.

Who is the one player needed to lift this team, one of the lowest scoring teams in the league?
An impact, game wrecking RB, who can score in the red zone as did Tony Dorsett, Herschel Walker, Emmitt Smith and a young Zeke, and who had game-breaking speed.

Just as Juan Soto is a major impacting player, who hits in the clutch, who hits against the best pitchers in baseball, the Cowboys lack the dominating RB who can takeover the game and make the QB's job much easier.

The Boys need Boise State Ashton Jeanty badly, but winning is pushing this union away from reality. Jeanty is Emmitt Smith with breakaway speed. He will improve the passing game. Teams will fear him and he will open up passing lanes. He stands out head over shoulders above any other RB.

Continuing to win this year, we will lose out on Jeanty, Abdul Carter and Mason Graham, guys who can contribute as rookies. If all three are gone, I would pick Ohio State WR burner if available. If not, trade down twice and get two extra high picks

With a proven 30 year record of poor salary cap management, making free agent signings of very good players unrealistic, this team needs serious impact players who may not be available in the first round if we win more games.

Imagine this team without Turpin and our "uber" ( super in German) place kicker Aubrey. They have covered up the lack of offensive firepower. Look at the points scored this year of NFL teams. The Boys are near the bottom. This team needs offensive firepower more than anything else. Terrence Williams and Michael Gallop produced more early as 3rd round picks than any receivers on this team other then Lamb than. Tolbert is a decent 4th or 5th receiver. He cannot carry the team or make big plays.
Jeanty is going in the 15-20 which is where Dallas will probably end up.

I hear you, a dynamic RB will take pressure off every position, but only if they get the oline straight. I presume the Cowboys will end up picking somewhere between 8-13 which may be in the Jeanty range anyway. All depends on how teams value the RB position. However, even if they didn't get Jeanty this is supposed to be a deep RB class and great year to add an RB.

By the way there's only one Emmitt, Jeanty would be lucky to shine his shoes at this stage :).
Jeanty has the potential to be one of the best. If he stays healthy, he will be outstanding.

It doesn't really matter until the Dak Era is over or close to being over. This is a weak QB class anyway and we weren't going to take QB even if we had a Top-3 pick. We will get a Top-12 pick, take some player that will make everyone think McClay is a genius again, and then repeat the cycle for a few years.

Once this team is REALLY ready to move on from Dak then we can worry about draft positioning/tanking.

Keep an eye on Indiana qb Kurtis Rourke.

I remember the days when the draft was a minor curiosity to Cowboys fans. Constantly drafting in the lower quarter of each round for 20 years will do that.

The only time during that period that the draft was interesting to Cowboys fans was when they had previously traded a player for another team's 1st round draft pick that ended up #1 or #2 overall the next draft. That happened twice.

The Cowboys traded DE Tody Smith for the pick that became #1 overall, Ed "TooTall" Jones.

They traded QB Craig Morton for the pick that eventually became #2 overall and they used it to pick DT Randy White.

They received another #2 overall pick when they packaged a group of picks and players to move up and get RB Tony Dorsett.

However, when the fans of any team are talking about the next draft with five games left and their team still mathematically alive, it's an indication of no confidence and very low hope for the remainder of that season. I get that.

But when it happens every season?

Good post ,and well said .If Jeanty is there in the teens you have to take him I believe he is a difference maker .He would make Prescott's job much easier and play action would be unstoppable for sure . Then you must focus on defensive tackle and wide receiver .

Don't waste your time bro. Too many posters stuck on ignorance. They just want to see some kind of wins......at all costs.......as long as their achey-breaky hearts are mended and healed for a week or two. They can't see the forest for the trees.
AC, we don't communicate enough, how many times do you reference ignorance or hate in your posts?
Not telling you to slow your roll, you do you bro, but it must be tiring trying to be the board narrative trying to maintain some of your soap box opinions that you will not move off of.
You are a stubborn fan, I give you street cred for standing your ground, but time passes quickly in this league, and even Moreso for franchise soon to be 32-year-old QBs that are highest paid historically coming off of a hamstring avulsion injury.

Jeanty would make Prescott have better results and that is what Dallas needs , to win games.

don't worry about the draft, overshown was picked later in the draft, j lew later, turpin signed from xfl, not to mention tom brady and purdy picked later in the draft.

I see a reply on this thread calling people ignorant for wanting to see Dallas win. You’re actually the ignorant one thinking professional football players with egos will just lay down and lose for the sake of where they fall in the draft.. any professional sport for that matter and to even add to it you want them to shave points as well.. are you unsmart much or nah?

I don't think you should instill losing on any young asset we actually have.

Anyone...that thinks teaching overshown to tank is a GOOD thing...is an idiot. You teach these kids to WIN....play at your highest level instinctively.

Those are one offs. The vast majority of high quality NFL players come in the first two round; sometimes in the third

It’s not good.

We are so locked into mediocrity it’s not funny.

We went from getting bigtime impact guys and now it’s looking like a guard or linebacker haha

Maybe we can get in the Jeanty range.
I'm hoping the same thing. He brings what our offense is sorely lacking.

Actually a few spots can make a big difference, see ex (Aaron Donald) rams took him 2 spots before us because I think we had gone 8-8 that season to drop to was it 17th and they took him at 15 something like that.
