Wow, only one more episode left. I'm kinda disappointed with the way they're tying off some of these loose ends, without going into detail and spoiling it.

Decided to resurrect this thread since I started watching The Wire fairly late.

I finished all 5 Seasons about 2 months ago.

I have a question about Season 2.

Who was the guy The Greek was using to get FBI Information? He is also the guy the real FBI agent was providing information too.

He's Busmalis from OZ :D

I got the feeling he was a real agent who works for the Greek.

Not sure

Because at the end of Season 2, FBI Agent Fitzhugh tried to call him one last time in San Francisco, and he wasn't there anymore and I believe the secretary who answered the phone told him that there was noone by that name at that branch.

If you haven't watched it, I'd recommend you start. Especially with all this time during the offseason.

We've put all the dvd's on our Netflix list to watch this summer...

I've never seen an episode but have heard it is really good...

They did leave it a little open ended but I got the sense he is an agent just using an alias or something. He was the one who was in on the drug bust where the drugs were disguised as paint pellets.

Season one starts off kind of slow (according to most critics), but this show just grabbed me from the start. The Barksdale season is so good because it's based on real events and experiences, and it just lays the foundation for the whole series.

That's how the whole show is. The season starts slow and builds to a strong finish.

I liked season one and two the best, the rest of them fell short IMO. Still, a really great series though.

I've only watched the first 2. Season 2 is on a Sopranos level. Season 1 is pretty amazing as well.

Was the Wire an HBO documentary-type thing before they worked it into a full series (or maybe a mini series?)

Just looked it up -- I was thinking of a mini-series called The Corner, same writer, also on HBO. Same topics but not the same characters.
