The worst part of Moore re-retiring

...is that 1) by trying to sign him, you've essentially told your existing RG's that you don't have enough confidence in them to start; and 2) by publicly disclosing the terms, 1-year $2 million, you've now likely set the floor where Brian Waters or perhaps other G's will negotiate. Double whammy. Like one poster said, you can't make this stuff up...

Also sucks that he would've been on board with this had the move been made in April instead of August.

We pretty much showed all our cards with the way things happened I agree.

I think they realize they are close to being pretty good on the OL. They are pretty much set at 4 spots, and upgrading the RG may be all they need.

I hope they keep looking.

You earn your job every day, nothing is given to you. That should be the message. I have no issues with them going out and looking for potentially better players. If Arkin/Berny/Livings get butt hurt.....try harder.

Lol. If he was gonna be counted on he would've been signed earlier so he can be in camp and gel with the rest of the line, especially Fred.

And I'm sure the rest of the guards in the scrub heap that Moore was just pulled out of will be holding out for "Brandon Moore Money".

I would have liked to have had him but I'm not going to lose sleep over this.

I do hope they continue to try and find ways to improve the depth and play on the O-line. It's absolutely essential to doing anything at all this year. Or, well, any year for that matter.

And the fact that no one mentions Leary in this just shows the Witch hunt against the guards continues. It's all about optimism and what's new. I bet the Jets can use a Brandon Moore on their O-line. If only Brandon Moore was Brandon Moore last year.

Agreed.

I don't see this as a bad thing to the guys that are on the roster.

I think it's a pretty fine motivational tool actually. :)

I could care less about both issues. Hopefully it will make the guys there work harder and they should always be looking over their shoulder. Any of those guards that don't pick up their play now aren't worth having anyway. Secondly, it isn't my money so if Water now wants $2 million, so be it, and give it to him if he solidifies the OL.

who knows maybe Brian Waters is signed by the end of the day to this contract. He may have wanted more yesterday, but knowing that Moore was penned to this figure may make him more comfortable with the amount. I think a lot of guys just want to be paid the going rate and not be short-changed. Waters now knows this is a good figure and not to hold out for more.

Waters scares me.

Great player, but spending 18 months on the couch eating Funyuns and drinking beer kinda changes a fellow.

Certainly makes you wonder what the heck took so long. Heard rumors we were kicking the tires on this guy months ago. Good ole Jerry...

Jets drafted Brian Winters. Probably what we should've done.

So, because he hasn't been playing, he's just been sitting on a couch?
