Theories regarding Romo

in no, particular order

A.) wrong offensive system...

Romo is a guy with a very, quick release, I remember Parcells' last year here, before Romo was entered in for Drew Bledsoe, how in the offseason, when they brought out the stop-watch, Romo was consistently getting the ball off around 3 seconds, while they had to hurry Drew Bledsoe

this system calls for alot of 5 step drops, waiting on long, developing pass routes, and barely any quick throws like slants

which brings me to

B.) his pointer finger...

this offense calls for a lot of touch passes, because timing is involved in every throw, I think Romo's finger is hindering his ability to make touch throws, as he can't get a good grip on the ball

C.) sloppy mechanics...

he throws off his back foot a lot, that leads to a lot of balls sailing

D.) tunnel vision...

I had it in basketball, my coach was constantly getting on me when I brought the ball up the court, where I would be so focused on getting to the basket, or getting the ball to the post, that I would miss a lot of open guys on the wing

seems Romo likes to zone in on certain receivers, and forgets to scan the field

E.) happy feet...

Romo has it in bunches, I think it's affecting the touch he puts on his throws, that if he took an extra half-second, or slowed his body just a little bit, he would be more accurate

I don't think ability has anything to do with his struggles at all, he's a supreme athlete, NBA baller Caron Butler raved about his basketball skills

I don't want to say he's stupid either, Bill Parcells said he is a very, bright guy

I think the solution is completely revamping the whole, offensive system:

more roll outs, more bootlegs, more running the football (even if it's not successful, hell, it seems like Red is looking for any excuse to start flinging the ball), more play action, more slants, more drag routes, take advantage of what Romo does best, which is get the football out there quickly, and have the D go one way, while he goes another with the football.

I'm beginning to think that the Giants game bent his brain a little, and is now experiencing a Vandy-like crisis of confidence. I hope I'm wrong.

I think it is simple. Romo is trying so hard not to throw picks he is thinking too much and it is affecting his accuracy. That is about all I can think it is. He had WRs open quite a bit today but just missed them, over and over.

He is trying to hard to make the perfect pass, instead of just letting it fly.

I think he might be injured, but I dont think it just happened. His accuracy has been off since the season opener. I've never seen him miss this many open guys, at least not since his first training camp here. And he's missed alot of open guys in every regular season game.

you read my mind Ren: he does indeed: SUCK, AND SUCK BAD.
Romo is just like every other great QB in the league, he need to be surrounded by talent. Dallas has a lot of good players, no great ones on offense.

Romo peaked in 2007 and is now on the downhill slide...we need to get used to it.

It sucks because we're just an average QB away from being 4-0. :bang2:

who knows? Although we missed Felix a lot today. Our wrs can't get separation. We need to upgrade that this offseason someway somehow

and for those in the anti- Romo camp if we hire Gruden we will probably draft a QB somewhere in the draft McGee or no McGee.

I'm also wondering if he hasn't developed a bit of a mental barrier that he's going to have to knock down. I'm not ready to give up on him though.

Maybe Romo needs to be in a true WC Offense system. I thought his scouting report read that he made great short and medium throws but the trouble with the deep ones.

I'm not sure why Romo can't hit a slant to save his life but I think the problem is that the line is so massive he can't clearly see the WR on those short passes.

We are a slant passing team now. Watch the games over.

Parcells loved to throw it deep. Loved the 5 and 7 step drops.

Romo is shook, that's not a good thing.

Whatever it is, he's clearly regressed. I saw it at the end of last season, thought it may have gone away with preseason and the Bucs game, but saw it reappear in the NYG game. I highly doubt he gets it back, but people want to blame Garrett or the WR's (guys were open today, Romo didn't see them or threw a bad pass) or the defense, and not admit that they were wrong about him.

I think the Cowboys have to ask themselves 'has Tony Romo regressed and if so, how much has he regressed?' From what I see he has regressed a lot and I don't see him getting it back and I think they need to try and find a suitable replacement for him.

It would help if we would actually used those routes
