I'm beginning to think that the Giants game bent his brain a little, and is now experiencing a Vandy-like crisis of confidence. I hope I'm wrong.
This is what I'm starting to think. He's not making plays anymore because there's so much pressure on him to be perfect.

You can tell now he's trying to protect the ball. There comes a time though when you have to let it fly. He's not a bus driver.

I'm also wondering if he hasn't developed a bit of a mental barrier that he's going to have to knock down. I'm not ready to give up on him though.

I think anyone giving up on him is a moron. He's struggling right now, but that doesn't erase the fact that he's been a damn good QB for us all the up til now.

Maybe Romo needs to be in a true WC Offense system. I thought his scouting report read that he made great short and medium throws but the trouble with the deep ones.

I'm not sure why Romo can't hit a slant to save his life but I think the problem is that the line is so massive he can't clearly see the WR on those short passes.

2 words : Jon Gruden.

Romo has never been a good pocket passer, Romo earned his fame, avoiding the rush, rolling out, extending plays, basically backyard football. Now Garrett has him trying to be Tom Brady like, and Romo does not have the experience at reading defenses like a Brady, or Brees. Romo is best when he is on the run, he has to be moving to make plays, more like a Steve Young type.

Romo is not playing Romo type football...

I'm not ready to "give up" on him either, but his crap play and inaccuracy needs to stop, pronto!

I don't give a **** how many stats that can be posted about how great Romo is. The guy has been "off" for some time. He's missed so many "routine" throws over the past 3 weeks, it's not even funny.

Romo has West Coast offense written all over him! He has the Montana "The Catch" play all over him.

Welcome home Mike!

He doesn't even have to be perfect. We'll take the occasional interception (even the boneheaded ones) if they're matched by three or four TDs. But that ain't happening lately. I think he's just terrified of making a mistake.

I used to think that was our problem under Parcells. That we were just too afraid of making a mistake that we never made enough plays. At the time, I remember thinking that if that were the case, we had a team made of mental midgets.

Using my own standards, Romo is showing himself to be a mental midget.

Whether you believe Romo is all world or if he is "just another guy",his performance this year has to considered pivotal in his career. After todays game i'm starting to believe he is just another guy that will never consistantly put it all together.Denver made it their point to shut down the run in the second half,if Romo makes a few throws they back off.All season long it seems that Romo has been sailing his throws,I think part of that is mechanics and that part of the problem is pocket awareness.Lack of awareness leads bad decisons more times than not.

Or possibly Romo is just going through a slump, and we aren't used to that from him.

Exactly. Stop using that excuse.

Yup. He "looks scared". And that ain't good. I've never seen that from him.

Romo has played well and has had moments where he has been great, this game and the game against the Giants he has looked like he has lost his confidence, and maybe he is thinking too much. Romo needs to use his feet to break down the defense too many times he has lanes to run and get good yardage but he will sit there and look to make a passing play and wind up throwing the ball away or dinking a short pass that gets nothing. I saw Romo do a lot of scrambling for yardage his first two season, but now he hardly ever takes off. What gives?

I don't know what it is, but I do miss the Romo that we all fell in love with. The gunslinger with the incredible improvisational skills. Has he been overcoached? Is is his finger? Is it the receivers? Or the O-line?

I don't know exactly, but I still have faith in the guy. I really think he can play, and I still believe that he is the quarterback for this franchise. There is nobody else out there (that is readily available) that gives us a better chance of winning. He can be frustrating as hell sometimes but I still think he can get it done for us.

Theory? He was always over hyped, good relative to his UFA status and the poor play of Dallas quarterbacks post Troy Aikman. He is not the savior of the franchise nor a franchise caliber leader, he was hyped and fans and Romo himself bought the hype.

QBs can't go thru slumps.

Matt Moore doesn't. He levitates above them.

Bull. He was that good and he is that good. You don't fluke your way to 2.5 seasons of excellent QB play and 65% win pct.

It definitely was not a fluke. Anyone who has been waiting for going on 3 seasons now to say 'I told you so!' about Romo sucking, is well, an idiot. He's struggling currently, but I would venture to say that the chances of him sucking from here on out are much slimmer than the chances of him righting the ship and returning to form.

Fine so he's Randall Cunningham or Jim Everett, a loser with stats.
