The DC who made that move isn't here any more.Marquese Bell (but maybe he's back to being a LB?)
Likely won't make the 53 at LB or S.

Risen wanna be.Wonder if Caleb Downs will even make the roster. That's a lot of competition.
Yeah, might at least take a little longer for the opponent to score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!If only they could put all 17 on the field at the same time.![]()
Decent human wannabe.Risen wanna be.
HaterYou aren’t good at this whole “math” thing.
19% of the current 90 man roster are in the defensive backfield.
And when they make cuts, they will keep approximately 10 out of 53 on the opening day roster. Which is… You got it, about 19%.
So no… What they currently have on the 90 man roster is not “a lot”. It’s by definition, “standard” or “average”.
What it does is open up full competitions for the depth chart Some of them won't make the team but a lot of them will but will they be starters Will it be backups How often will they be activated that is all an open fight and camp and preseason and that's why this should be a more fun preseason with so many guys on defense that have not cemented their depth chart position..Yes sir, strength in numbers. Dallas has added talent to this secondary along with some good depth. This is a versatile unit .
And somebody would still give up a touchdown it only takes one weak one right,If only they could put all 17 on the field at the same time.![]()
Great points. The secondary was abysmal last year and definitely needed a multitude of upgrades.Well,
The DC's roots are in the secondary.
AND post surgery Bland and Revel ain't exactly what I'd call a sure thing.
So just maybe there's a hidden gem or 2 floating amongst this group.
I think people are getting caught up in the math far too much,It doesn't matter how many there are. 17 or 27. The best of the bunch need to be able to play in this league. I believe the Cowboys are really upgraded the quality of the DB core and it won't be the liability it was last year.
All this competition should make the secondary better, the cream will rise to the top. Who will rise up the depth chart, will it be a rookie or players that are 2nd year guys. Could one of these young players beat out Bland or Revel and be a surprise starter. The long corner from Florida may have something to say about this competition at outside corner. Downs will probably start at nickel and move to deep safety and never come off the field. This defense could surprise. What it does is open up full competitions for the depth chart Some of them won't make the team but a lot of them will but will they be starters Will it be backups How often will they be activated that is all an open fight and camp and preseason and that's why this should be a more fun preseason with so many guys on defense that have not cemented their depth chart position..
17, 18 it doesn’t matter. The point was/is that the Cowboys are trying to address a major weakness from last year. People, arguing about the numbers instead of commenting on the OP which is quite clear in what I meant.Actually I count 18, not 17:
CB (11): Daron Bland, Shavon Revel, Cobie Durant, Devin Moore, Derion Kendrick, Caelon Carson, Trikweze Bridges, Josh Butler, Reddy Steward, Corey Ballentine, Zion Childress
S (7): Caleb Downs, Jalen Thompson, Malik Hooker, P.J. Locke, Markquese Bell, Alijah Clark, Julius Wood
Didn't intend for it to be argumentative, just reinforcing your point. There are a lot of numbers at the position which is good for competition.17, 18 it doesn’t matter. Again… 17 or 18 isn’t any more or any less than what they typically take to camp.17, 18 it doesn’t matter. The point was/is that the Cowboys are trying to address a major weakness from last year. People, arguing about the numbers instead of commenting on the OP which is quite clear in what I meant.
Yeah sorry about that as your weren’t the one I was talking about. SHouldn’t have replied to you. Gomen buddy.Didn't intend for it to be argumentative, just reinforcing your point. There are a lot of numbers at the position which is good for competition.
Did you watch the games last year? The secondary was horrid. They throwing a bunch of new players at the issue. Their #1 pick being one of them. Now I answered your question so answer mine. How are they NOT addressing the secondary?Again… 17 or 18 isn’t any more or any less than what they typically take to camp.
As such, how is it “addressing a weakness from last year“?
Who said that they are not addressing the secondary? Noone ever claimed otherwise. Of course they are trying to address it with new players.Did you watch the games last year? You did.Who said that they are not addressing the secondary? Noone ever claimed otherwise. Of course they are trying to address it with new players.
But your claim that there are more secondary players currently on the roster than usual is patently false. That’s the point.
