There is no intelligent reason to make Romo play Sunday

The whole team isnt dealing with a bad back, broken hand, sprained MCl, ankle sprain, and whatever Scandrick is dealing with. If they could forfeit the game I think that would be the best move. Take the bye week like seattle and GB will do next week. Don't think those teams are upset that they don't get to play in the first round of the playoffs. Teams play better when rested. The stats back that up.

You'd think that would be clear when you compare our two games against Philly

Garrett’s answer when presented with this question was again to focus on the present – the Cowboys will watch the Indianapolis tape on Tuesday, and they’ll begin practicing Wednesday.

“Our plan is to practice as well as we can practice and go play our best football game with the guys who are available to us,” Garrett said. “We’re excited about that opportunity. That’s what we do here.”
It didn’t matter to Garrett that Dallas is still technically alive for a possible bye week during the playoffs. Given the right results – losses by both the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks – they could potentially climb to the conference’s No. 2 seed.
Garrett was quick to point out, however, that they Cowboys play their season finale at noon – hours before any of their fellow NFC contenders kick off.
“We play the early game up there, so all the scenarios everybody is talking about, no one will know what those are,” he said. “So we’ve got to go play our best football. The way to do that is focus on cleaning up this game when the players come in tomorrow and getting ready for the next challenge. That’s what we’re going to do.”

On my phone now, but there is nothing conclusive either way with regard to resting or playing starters.

If we do play them, then a huge part of the gameplan will be how to protect our key guys. That takes time away from planning for Det or GB, which makes absolutely no sense.

Totally agree. Let the starters take the plane ride. Let them walk through and warm up. Let them play the first sequence, then pull Romo, Murray, R McClain and others who are nicked. That's routine enough. Hatcher, Kerrigan and Bowen are motivated animals and will not hold back on Romo if the shot is there. the have a successful history od blitzing us and killed us last time putting Romo out for 2 weeks. This game is nothing but a detour to rest and health for the big prize. Routine is important but does not override the health of your team. Playing Romo is playing Russian roulette with our Ace who has had his share of health problems already. Romo goes down and the season is over.

That's how you know many of these fans are just (insert pejorative). Would they want the team to give up a bye on purpose... obviously not. They'd want it. The idea that we should play our starters in this game is ridiculous.

Don't show the NFL anything in DC, show them in the playoffs.

The NFL already knows what the Cowboys are all about. But, the Cowboys still need to find out what they are all about. Some are asking if the Cowboys have peaked? Not yet is the answer that I have heard from some players.

Keep the peddle to the metal. And, the Cowboys are not the only team with bad backs, broken hands, sprained MCI, ankle sprains...the whole NFL is like that.

You think a boxer will rest after winning 7 out of 10 rounds? If he does, he could get his *** kicked!

So, your, "No I take the bye this week and rest the guys that need it." is why you are not a coach.

Well that last part just isn't true though, we know that in one scenario the outcome of the game Sunday is irrelevant. We can lose and still end up with the bye, the only scenario that a win counts for is a tie with GB or DET. That also was sort of ambigious when he said guys available to us. That could mean that if guys have been toughing it out with their injuries that they won't be called upon to tough it out through this game.

Hatcher is not playing, he is out knee injury

No but if a boxer is ahead on points through 9 rounds you think he's gonna give his opponent a shot at getting a knockout? That round is going to be fought very conservatively, his corner is gonna tell him to coast to the finish. There is no reason to ask these guys to play through injury in this game.

Have you ever seen a team root against getting a bye in the playoffs? No, but that's exactly what you see with these nonsensical fans... and unfortunately by the looks of it the front office.

lmao Yeah, well, while he is coasting to the finish and not looking over his shoulder, he might get a round house to his head and get the hell knocked out!

I guess you and others should just let the team come in like pussies and let the other team win, that will show the NFL.

Cocaine is a hell of a drug....but so is momentum! And right now the Cowboys have momentum...don't lose it.

Why would they? They need to beat the Rams lol ARZ needs to win for a chance at the bye we're then only team in our conference with this luxury.

and you think they can't beat Ariz with out sitting - Russell - Lynch

who's Arizona QB ?

The whole NFL has injuries. But dallas has earned an opportunity to rest guys and not risk further injury. The outcome of this Commanders game win or lose, will have no effect on how dallas performs in the playoffs unless there's an injury. Rested players typically play better than a player that just took a physical pounding one week prior. That's why teams usually don't play well after playing seattle. Starters may play a half, but to play to win that game and play the whole game is senseless. Plus I think they can win without murray martin ro and scan and romo playing a full game or even a half. I doubt the Commanders hearts will be in it. Typical let down after beating philly.

You don't get the concept of being conservative do you? Fighting smart? Not taking chances? The other guy's looking for a knockout you don't give him that chance for this last round, you kicked his *** all fight you've earned the right to fight the last round that way.

They don't need this game to maintain momentum. They proved all they needed to on the field and earned the rights I rest their starters this game. Come playoff time that's when they'll show the NFL what they're made of, what does it prove to blow out the Commanders and fall on your *** in the playoffs? That you can beat the crap out of a team that's in shambles? So freaking what, this team has higher goals they need to be ready for.

You do not have momentum getting beat by the Deadskins and sitting your starters. Even if you beat them with your backups.

Why on earth would anyone want to stop what's currently happening is beyond me. Well I do get it. Its the fear of injury. Deadskins may not be a very good team but their defensive coordinator and defense has our number. Starters don't even have to play the whole game. Maybe play a quarter or two. But this team needs to show they know how to read Haslett's blitz. The Cowboys are still prepping for the post season in my eyes.

this I agree with

I'd play this game like 3rd preseason game

you want something good before STARTING THE TOURNMENT

They have to play the Rams now? And they can't afford to sit anyone when home field is on the line neither can Arizona against the 49ers because if Seattle loses they get the bye only with a win. We're the only ones who don't need to win to win the bye.

No, and I frankly don't understand it lol Screw pride or whatever else that's out there there's a championship to win! And no reason to play guys who've been playing through injury to earn a playoff spot in a game that holds no playoff significance.
