There is QB controversy

Moore has always lacked the one fundamental trait needed to play QB and that's throwing the ball. Last week, he just threw it up and guys made plays for him. He lacks to ability to make any plays.

Yeah...that TD pass to Rico last week was all luck.

Funny when a guy has time to throw ...he can complete a pass down field.

Now let’s get to quarterback. Last week, I sat up there in Canton and wrote about how Kellen Moore wasn’t spectacular, but definitely looked the part of a backup quarterback.

But that wasn’t the case here on this night – one that saw him play behind mostly offensive line starters, except for Tyron Smith, who doesn’t even protect his blind side anyway.

I’m not even getting into what Cooper Rush was able to do (completing his first eight passes with a beautiful touchdown strike to Rico Gathers) because even if he’s impressing us all, he won’t be competing for a backup spot right now.

And if you ask the coaches and front office staff, there isn’t a competition at all. Moore is the guy and has been ever since last season. We know how much offensive coordinator Scott Linehan likes him and even Jerry Jones said two weeks ago that there is no interest in signing the you-know-who veteran quarterback because of what they have in Moore.

there should be some doubt after Saturday. Sure, the starters were mostly out but not on the O-line. Moore had plenty of guys up front to help him, and he really didn’t take advantage. No, there weren’t a lot of first-team skill players, but he wasn’t facing many either.

Still, there shouldn’t be an excuse for that kind of outing. He completed 8-of-17 passes for 69 yards, and most of that came after the catch on check-down throws. Not only that, he wasn’t too mobile in the pocket, and he barely even looked down the field.

For everything he showed us in the first game, Moore failed to deliver in this second one.

All you can do is hope the backup position isn’t needed, but history suggests that it usually is.

I've seen Punt, Pass, and Kick contestants with better arms than Moore.

Relax...All Kellen is doing is following the game plan. Keep it vanilla. We gotta play these guys again. No need to expose what we are gonna do in the real game.

Yes...we came out flat. That's not on Kellen.

People just need to have a little faith....He can play. I'm not worried.

Dude why do you keep this up in the face of a mountain of evidence, you seem like a legit nice guy but I can't be the only one wishing for your own sake that you come to reality.

like bodi my guess is Moore is the back up this year because experience makes coaches more comfortable.
Rush is a better QB but lacks the experience [as yet] to be a qualified BU.
come next year I really think we have drafted our future back up QB this 2017 draft.
impressive and again salute to the drafting department.

I liked Moore in 2015 (looked better than Weeden and Cassell). I still liked him coming into the 2016 season and even this off-season...but his noodle arm is troubling. He seemed to be able to work with that deficiency in arm strength by being "cerebral"....but he's not even the savant he's been made out to be by everybody. He's a QB3 kinda guy. If you gave him 4-5 starts, you might luck out and get a win if most things play out correctly. He's a Kitna...at best.

Progress stopper.

Ive gone on record saying he was a decent backup but he looks very bad this year. He's been out for a year due to injury. You can tell physical decline is happening and he never had a good physical package in the first place.

Wrong...

Rush has all day to throw vs 3rd string guys....

Moore was running for his life the entire game. Big difference. Moore made all the right reads...and didn't turn the ball over. I'll take that all day.

But hey...feel free to spin this anyway you want.

I'll spin it this way, Moore can't throw the ball well at all. His attempts at out routes are possibly the worst I've ever seen in the NFL. He is a check down guy, but he doesn't ever put the ball in the right spot for the receiver to RAC when he checks down.

You have to let this one go Floaty. KM is never going to make it in the league. He was a great college player. Perhaps he will be a good coach.

Well if I were the Cowboys, I would give Rush a chance to start a game, maybe the next one. We really don't have the space to carry 3 QBs so we have to come to a decision. Rush definitely has upside, Moore definitely doesn't. With Zeke out, if Dak goes down, Moore is going to lose anyway, just as well go with upside.

Gotta use the word that everyone avoids....Rush might be moxie 2.0....:omg:

I'm beginning to feel pretty confident that we've found our future backup QB in Cooper Rush.

It might well be just a matter time before it becomes official. He seems to have the "it" factor.

If he continues to display the poise, accuracy and the judgment that he has, he's on his way.

IT should be that simple.

Bigger question is if they will try to sneak him on the practice squad.

They play him too much he might not make it on there and we will be forced to make a decision.
