There is zero hope of any change for 5-6 years minimum

With correct draft pieces mixed in with worthy FA additions it should not take 5-6 yrs to climb out of the gutter . No way shape or form should Dallas be 3-6 next season .

Not sure what the FA pool is next season but they can easily be back in the playoff mix next season with 4 or 5 free agent pickups and a good draft.

Look how many teams have a bad records this season, the entire NFL is pretty mediocre, including the undefeated Chiefs.

No change at Head Coach....no change in Free Agency philosophy....not even a change at GM.....none of these things can reverse the dye that was cast on the morning of September 8th when Booger sealed our fate by making his SINGLE WORST ACTION as owner and GM!!!!!! I feel sad for those who think a change at Head Coach, or any other thing I failed to reference will result in any short term turnaround. Even if ALL THREE of the things I did reference above happened, WE AIN'T SNIFFING A SUPER BOWL WITH DAK!!!! And the sad and PATHETIC thing about it, is Booger already 100% knows that it was a mistake....somehow, some idiot or idiots convinced him that he would curry favor by doing what he did when he did it...he 100% did not read the correct room prior....I do not know ONE PERSON who thought it was the right decision. Anyway....since September 8th, my viewing habits have changed drastically....prior to that date, I'd missed watching only one game since 1988, and that was in 1994 when I was in Cabo and our hotel could not pull in a nationally televised game. The Cowboys are dead to me. I love this site, but now visit sparingly....a few of you applaud this fact, which I can live with. I've been a die hard fan since 1975, and you can tell me all you want that a die hard fan doesn't throw in the towel and quit. But I didn't betray ANYONE.....Booger betrayed me and the other tens of millions like me. Go Dodgers....Go Mavericks....Go Stars....Go Sun Devils!!! There are other alternatives to the S show that is the Dallas Cowboys for going on THREE DECADES!!!
When was the last time you seriously thought we a chance?

I think it’s time for some of you to either find a new team or stop watching football all together. The Cowboys fortune can turn with one great offseason. Relax. Nothing went right this season. Next season will be better.

It will take half a decade to rebuild this team. If, and only if, the organization has the will to excise its cancer and actually do it. And I am not at all convinced of that.

Even Jerry and his yes men (largely McClay) have put the Cowboys in position for a serious post season run. Consider...

#1 Seed in the NFC in 2007. Great offense, meh defense. Lost to the Giants at home in the first (divisional) playoff game, a game they should have won, but can't pin that on Jerrah. They did put the team in position. Not sure they would have beaten New England in the SB that year though. Matter of fact, I'm gonna say no. TB never lost to Dallas during his tenure in New England.

Divisional round teams in 2009 and 2014, both losses on the road. Although they coulda beat Green Bay in that divisional game (Dez Bryant 'no catch'). Again, good, competitive team that didn't finish. Is that Jerry's fault?

Now...2016...this is the one that hurts. Clearly the best team in the NFC in my opinion. Loses to A Aron and the Pack in the divisional round. Could have beaten Denver in the SB that year, IMO. Again...personnel wise...team was in position, then *poof*.

So in 17 years, two #1 seeds in the NFC, at least 4-5 other playoff teams that made it to the divisional round. Not a bad 17 year run. But of course, they didn't win the big one, nor even got to the NFCC game.

Do you remember the veteran all pro offensive line we had ready to go in 2021?

Do you remember zeke and Pollard 1800 combined rushing yards in 2021

Do you remember having Ceedee, Amari Cooper and Schultz each having over 70 receptions each in 2021.

Son, this roster ain't gonna have anything like those guys here in 2025.....and Jerry isn't going to produce one
Son? Whoever you are I am old enough to be your brother. ;) The young runner might be bettter than Zeke and Pollard combined. Guyton/Bebe will be second year players. CeeDee, Ferguson, and another receiver could not have the same production as Shultz and Amari. Get out of here. You just never know. Look at Washington right now.

In an ideal world, yes. But FA is not going to produce the number of 'worthy' talent we need. I know we like the myopic view point that we have CAP and every player wants to play for us, but the CAP situation is such that we're in the bottom 3 (for the next three years) and it's comparison to other teams that matters as in every market (and pretty much EVERY team can restructure contracts). What 'worthy' FA would (when he can get a better contract elsewhere) want to join the dysfunctional Cowboys?

I think the first step is a coaching team that works, not for the short term, but YR1 evaluates what we've got. and looks to 2026 to start the rebuild. At that point we make a rational decision on the elite contracts: taking into account we'll have to decide on Tyler (who'll demand, and get LT type money) and Micah with $40m per), we'll also be in a better position to consider: Dak, Diggs, CeeDee's future and debate whether the value is actually in cutting them.

I would 'defer' as much of the 2025 draft capital a possible, trading down for 2026 picks.....sell to the new Head Coach that there's no pressure YR1, thats for you to evaluate......a potential clean slate approach. WE NEED TO TEAR THIS DOWN, PREFERRABLY WITH NO INVOLVEMENT FROM JERRY, so allow the HC have an active role in the future direction, but it wont happen over night.

Agree.

the next HC has to hit.

the team has talent.

Well yes we have the talent to get back in the play-off mix, but the last three years have shown that that's not good enough, nor what we want. Indeed, it could be said that that's a bit like JERRY's outlook.

We need a more substantial rebuild, rather than this Soft attempt that Jerry attempted this year. Im not saying trading everything of worth, but to find the problem we need to introduce a variable with a constant........the obvious 'variable' for 2025 is a new coaching team. However, to truly evaluate we need to keep this group of players, and determine their worth under new 'management/coaching'.

Again, Liverpool FC. Ryan Gravenburch (and Curtis Jones to a degree), bit players that were never really evaluated in extended first team roles.....both of them exceed all expectations under a new coach. This is my suggestion, throw these elite contracts and draft picks that havent yet panned out, maybe even give up on 2025, for the betterment of 2026.

In 5 years jerruh may be in an Alzheimer's ward somewhere , so that is a positiv right there.
I think when jerruh is gone, the 3 Jones kids will fight and bicker and ultimately sell the team.
There is my ray of hope. LOL
