Thats on the league for not creating 32 safe spaces for the top recruits
Hard to pick the exact 32 but I think most of us here could hit 20 or so right
I don’t see the big deal if a guy doesn’t get picked. If he’s smart that will motivate him for a decade

Here's the list:

  • USC WR Jordan Addison
  • Alabama EDGE Will Anderson
  • Alabama S Brian Branch
  • Georgia DT Jalen Carter
  • Boston College WR Zay Flowers
  • Oregon CB Christian Gonzalez
  • Ohio State OT Paris Johnson
  • Kentucky QB Will Levis
  • Penn State CB Joey Porter Jr.
  • Florida QB Anthony Richardson
  • Texas RB Bijan Robinson
  • Ohio State WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba
  • Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud
  • Georgia Tech DL Keion White
  • Texas Tech EDGE Tyree Wilson
  • Illinois CB Devon Witherspoon
  • Alabama QB Bryce Young

You think Cowboys have a shot at anyone here? I've seen Witherspoon and Joey Porter go to us in some mock drafts.....I'd like to think Branch may have a shot but hope not.
My guess is that these are the only players that are almost certain to be selected in the first round.

Wow, that is low.
Not sure how many are usually invited. but this does not seem good.

Gibbs not there but Robinson is.
Ohio State has 3 players. Bama also.

I'm suprised no TE was invited. Surely a couple will go in round 1.

The reason the NFL only invited these players is to minimize the awkwardness of having a player (thought to be drafted in the 1st) sit and wait and not be drafted in the 1st. It's an image thing for them, per usual.
But that was my favorite part. There is nothing quite as entertaining as seeing an excited hopeful young player sitting in that "green room" spending the next four hours watching everyone else leave, one by one along with the number of zeros on his rookie contract.

Excitedness and hopefulness turns into confusion, then disappointment, followed by frustration and resentment, ultimately ending in despair and the realization that nobody thought you were as good as your agent told you.

Good stuff!

Me and my cruel, insensitive drunken friends would then begin to sing, "How much is that puppy in the window?".

It was reported that the NFL wants ALL PLAYERS at the draft to get drafted. It is just too devastating to an extremely talented athlete to "not be chosen" on national TV. It might ruin their career. LOL
then why invite these guys lol, they dont care if they are embarrassed?
It is all for show anyway, and I think goodell just likes hugging them ! lol handshake isnt good enough, lol give me a hug!
They dont need to invite anyone.

Just show them at home when they are picked, pretty simple, only no hugs for goodell !

If true, (these being the only ones invited by the NFL) I dont like it...it feels like NFL influence on a draft by "deeming who is worthy" of being drafted in the 1st round.

How does this not still feel like rejection to players who DO get drafted in the 1st? Especially if they wouldve preferred to be there for the only time they couldve had that experience.

It should be up to the players, if they want to be at home and/or with families I can respect their choice. If this is about not wanting to embarrass players, simply dont show who is back there waiting.

If you listen carefully, you might hear me singing too. I absolutely love it.

It seems like most players now prefer to have draft day parties at home with their whole family. I think we are going to see less and less players actually be at the events.

Based on that list, it seems likely positions of value that could be available at 26 are OT, TE, OG, and RB. DT is a possibility as well, but we know the boys history at taking DT in the 1st round.

Lots of needless speculation here -- the players will either stay home with their families or attend these festivities with them.

We're simply not privileged to knowing who's who and why not before-time. I'm thinking they'll likely be advised in advance.

There are players not on that list that will be drafted before some players on that list. From positions you pointed out. Especially offensive line.

I'd rather be at home anyway so my family and friends could enjoy the moment.

A good number of the first rounders may have likely decided to be among their very family during the wait and celebration.. than traveling to KC.
I would think the definite is at least the expected top 5 overall.

I dunno if i usually see 30-40 players on first day of the 1st round.

I'll be honest, there isn't anyone in the bottom third of the 1st round that really excites me. Not keen at all on a RB, TE or WR in the first (and these three positions could be the best "value" at pick 26).

JMO, but I think trading down to the first 5 or 10 positions in the 2nd round (and acquiring an additional 3rd round pick) offers a lot of value and options.

You could easily come out of rounds 2 and 3 with a top rated OG or T, DT and perhaps a RB
