There are excuses and there are reasons. Missing the two starting OT's, the 1 and 3 WR are reasons and there are few teams I would expect to overcome that on the road against what they perceive to be an inferior team. I imagine most of those guys were thinking 'well, if we have to play without them, glad it's against this team'. I believe they came in overconfident with a 2 game skid thinking they'd get right against this cellar dweller.
I don't know the reality except I had this team at 5th or 6th in the NFC to start the season and regarding the playoffs, they will still be there if they can win Sunday night. I did not have SF or SEA in the top 4 so some adjusting is taking place but either the Cowboys or Eagles will occupy the top 6 after this next game.
If the Cowboys lose this next game, I won't need to make excuses because I never overinflated the talent level of this team as some did and just thought the D would get better on it's own. The Eagles need this game to springboard, the Cowboys need it to believe.
The 49ers beat the Rams yesterday and were missing both starting OTs.
So can the injury excuses. We lost to a winless Jets team. If this team is really a legit contender like you seem to think they are, they don't lose games to bad teams like the Jets even with injuries. And definitely not after losing two games in a row.
If this team came into a game overconfident after losing two games, they they are the dumbest team to ever take a NFL field. That's such as weird rational for them losing.
