I'd prefer we go in another direction since I feel we're a DT and a FS away from being a very good defense. But you can't reach for players. If we have an opportunity to get a stud LB for the next 10 years versus a marginal 1-tech, you get the stud. Plus, Lee has never stayed healthy and McClain is on a one year deal.

Dude is a great football player. If we got him, I'd be okay with it. I still want a trenches guy. I want an impact player from this draft class on the D-line.

Some good points made. Not keen on a LB except OLB/DE type. If I were to take a LB in the first on this team I'd want a three down LB.

That's what people said about Travis. We'll see.

You never know... but if I had to guess, I'd say BPA at 27 is not a DL and is instead a CB, RB or Kendricks. Maybe a DL slides though, or Dallas likes a DL that we're not thinking about.

What's it going to be then, eh?

The intriguing thing is who else is interested in him. He is getting looks across schemes, which tells me that teams believe he is legitimate.

The Panthers are all over him, for example. That means they see him as a Thomas Davis replacement. Get two LBers like that and you have a good start on a defense that can clean up.

Should be interesting if he is on the board when Dallas' choice comes up.

I think he will be rated over guys like OO and Byron jones on our board based on the fact that he will be the best in his position group.Panthers will go Oline imo.

Sign me up. I love the idea of this kid at linebacker. He and Hitchens would guarantee quality linebacker play for an entire season when McClain and Lee get their inevitable weeks off in 2015 and help filter one of them out in 2016.

I would prefer a trade down too if this is the pick.

Plus, who's to say that they won't move up if their is someone they really covet? It's going to be crazy. My guess is a lot of the players on their board will be gone by their pick, and they'll happily move back, perhaps into the second round. Only thing we might see is shots of the war room, and that's it.

The Cowboys probably have 20 or so players with a true first round grade on their board. One or two might fall to 27.

I have a feeling this years first will be much more of a talent pick and much less of a need pick.

I could see Dallas having a first round grade on Kendricks and thinking that he may be one of the few players with a first round grade that could fall to them at 27.

yeldon.... interesting.

I didn't want to hijack another player's thread but I'm with you. I hadn't seen any interest from the Cowboys in him previously and was hoping to at some point. But I figured if they didn't it was the Saban connection letting them know he's not a RKG.
