They pulled me back in

By the end of last year’s disappointing season, I was very much checked out and indifferent.

And when the Schotty hire was initially announced, even more so.

But I must admit that as the off-season has gone by, my interest has been rekindled.

I loved the assistant coaching hires.

I loved what they did with trades and lower level free agency.

I loved the draft.

I love the Pickens trade.

I think they’ve had a fantastic offseason and I’m eagerly looking forward to training camp and the upcoming season.
So, they pulled you back in, huh? Well, you better let go of the rope until further notice.

I'm with you until you start talking about asst coaches.all of those guys know their stuff.never in history is an asst coach the difference in any win or loss.
That’s just totally wrong. Norv Turner’s offense during the early 90’s was game changing. He had an offense that utilized the strength of the players. His offense fit Troy perfectly.

They have holes. However their ceiling is raised to a 12 win team is some things go right.

I wish they would have spent more money. They still can. They have a ton of space. But the FA's aren't fortifing much, so if the want to strengthen themselves they would have to do it via trade.

Going into this years TC is much more exciting than last year for sure.
OTA's start on May 19th, unless that has changed recently.

Not sure how much we can tell by those, as everything will sound upbeat. And that is ok.
Curious to see what players Broaddus will pump up and who he will hate on. Or continue to hate on.

I have to admit that this offseason has been much better than last offseason. The FO actually improved the roster (on paper).

How they gell together remains to be seen. How does a 1st time HC handle his new job? What type of offense are they running? What is the system? Will there be more crossing routes or play designs that lead to receivers running wide open (think McVay/Shanahan/etc.)? Will they keep plays that Pickens does well (go routes, curls, deep in routes) or will he have to conform to a type of system?

I definitely wasn't interested in any of this when Shotty was hired. They pulled me back in as well with actually being professional regarding the offseason.

- At the surprised departure of McCarthy (thank goodness !) ..i was more ready for a Ben Johnson or Liam Coen HC recruit hire .. someone who had placed some paint on the wall.
and impressive working credentials - someone that was gonna bring elements, schemes and a new brand way of thinking & maneuvering that we have not yet seen with these
past previous HC regimes.

- i sure as heck did not want the Deion Sanders HC - keep Prime at the college level, and no internal -ego- power control drama needed here.

- i am trying to ponder if Schotty (who also has OC experience like Johnson/Cohen, but was not near as innovative or creative as the aforementioned OCs).
was responsible for the Cowboys offense of 2024.
How much was McCarthy's doing... how much was Schotty's doing ? Whose offense was it really ?

Because if it were Schotty's total offensive responsibility - will we see that same offense returning in 2025 ?
What will be the difference between the McCarthy offense ..vs what promises will the new Schotty-offense bring differently ?

As a new HC, we will just have to see if Schotty is new Dan Campbell to be .. new brand of inspiring coaching, new ideas, new approach, new difference maker .
He either will be a Dan Campbell version ... or a vocal sales pitcher like Jason Garrett was ...

I was always in...that said, I feel better about being a homer, right now.

I'm intrigued but the defense is still a mess - i still don't see how they stop the run with what they have and the sheer volume of injuries they are still dealing with means a ton of guys start the season on IR potentially.

We should be entertaining at the very least.

Last year was beyond boring.

- it first started with the hiring of new HC Schotty, and the asst coach hires he's brought on. (though i suspect the Eberflus DC hire was more the FO hire)
The hiring of Clayton Adams and OL coach Riley seem the most promising

- the 2025 free agent spending spree seems like more " fillers" and uninspiring. Heard to get excited about RB Williams, Sanders, Sehorn

- i admitted to being disappointed with the 12th overall pick of OG Booker instead of a potential playmaker in speedy WR Markus Golden

- more so not targeting a featured RB1 which is imperative to help of Dak,, but when i sat down & pondered, i liked the 2bd rd pick Ezeiruaku and CB Revel , Booker
may not be blue chip like Zack Martin and overvalued at 12th overall but he may be a solid, immediate plug & play starter.
RB Blue should have a chance to be a solid RB2 at the least if he improves his fumbling issues

- The WR Pickens is initially an inspiring one. On talent alone, Pickens should be a difference maker opposite Lamb. Should Lamb get hurt ala shoulder, hamstring, etc. we now
have a sure fire option 2 to go to. .We''ll have to see about the character issues that clouds him.

Well stated; im with you. Reason for hope. Seems like when the chips are down we have a good season. Last year so many penalties, hopfully this year will be a bounce back year.

Receivers on this team are a valid strength.

30 years of disappointment means until they show they really are something on the field any optimism is foolish

70s Cowboys Asst Coaches: Dave Shula, Jimmy Robinson, Ernie Stautner, Ray Renfro, Dan Reeves, Jack Reilly, etc.

90s Cowboys Asst Coaches: Dave Campo, Mike Zimmer, Ron Meeks, Joe Avezzano, Butch Davis, David Shula, Dick Nolan, etc.

All of them made a big difference of those 70s and 90s SB Championship Cowboys teams.
