Thieves let go, victim goes to jail.

Parts of this country are seriously upside-down and it's not going to get any better. It seems a whole generation was steeped to be contrary and just do the wrong thing.

He was stupid for shooting at their car in the first place. To shot someone it has to be considered self-defense. If someone is in your house, then it's usually considered self-defense. These guys clearly weren't in his house.

Have a gun? Don't be a *******.

They admit to stealing the trailer, but aren't charged with that? Moronic. I swear we are getting dumber as a society.

I doubt thats the case. Especially since they admitted to stealing it.

"The Jefferson County DA's office said that neither Torres nor Cardona have been charged with anything at this point,..."

This happened in February, how long does it take? Clearly these people think they should be focusing on the reaction to the crime, while marginalizing the multiple crimes these two have already committed. The law is clearly wrong in this case. The victim of the crime should be the after thought and while he might very well be charged with some kind of crime, these two shouldn't be going free.

Perhaps you failed to read this in the article?

"The Jefferson County DA's office said that neither Torres nor Cardona have been charged with anything at this point, even though Torres confessed to the crime. However, the homeowner, Wallace is facing twelve felony counts, including four counts of attempted first degree murder. If convicted, he could spend the rest of his life behind bars."

Open your eyes and your mind. You're so quick to throw the old man under the bus it is sickening.

Hell, the title of the article should have been a friggin' clue.

Sometimes your responses are predictable. Just sayin'.

At least we can agree on a few football related topics.

25 states have what is known as the 'Castle law' which does give a person the right to defend themselves as well as their property or business with deadly force. Too bad Colorado does not have this law in place.

I guess I missed that part skimming over the article. Excuse me. I didn't realize when I took a piss it was in your coffee.

I respond based on my belief. At least I'm consistent. Several people here... well... :flipflop:

And if they aren't, shoot them then drag them in to your house :D

Hey, that is the most emotional poster you are talking to. There is a reason his username is Hostile and not " Hostess " :D

That's the way it works around my neck of the woods.

Nah, he isn't all that Hostile. Just an occasional browbeater. I used to be extremely hostile towards people, (some people think I still am at times) but I've mellowed quite a bit since getting married.

Glad I am not the only one to notice ......

Always on the side of the criminal.

That is not true. Show me where I've ever been on the side of a criminal.

I just view both sides of the situation and make a judgment. I think it's completely short sided to only look at one side. In most cases I don't even relate the two sides. The guys that stole the trailer should go to jail, but that has nothing to do with what becomes of the guy that shot them. He himself committed a crime as defined by the law. So he too is guilty. The difference? Shooting a man is a lot more serious a crime that stealing a trailer.

Talk about stupid and a waste of tax payer's money. No one is any jury going to convict an 80 year old man trying to protect his property. Its sickening that this DA is so stupid, hopefully public out cry will help him do the right thing.

I hate to sound racist but the fact that one of them is in our country illegally and not being sent back to where he came from also ticks me off. They will prosecute a guy defending his property but they wont send an illegal back accross the border, last time I checked it was a crime to be here illegally.
