There are a couple things that I am very surprised I have not seen discussions about or articles/notes written on:

1.) I've seen the game twice now and I beleive the Cowboys O-line only gave up 1 sack against New York. That staggers me. I know its probably 50%+ Romo ability, but through the last several years it seems our quarterback (whomever it is) goes down 4-7 times per game on the road. Hopefully this will be a continuing trend in NFC East road games.

2.) I have not seen much disucssed about the Youth on this team. This is a very young team, especially on defense. This season alot of people expected "doomsday" from week 1, but when you think about it, it takes time for defenses to develop, regardless of the talent. It reminds me of 1992, when everyone said the Cowboys were to young and were a year away. Why has nobody said that this year? We had veternas on the '92 team too.

3. Regardless of T.O.'s stats or the goofy things he says off the field, his biggest impact still has to be how teams gameplan against him and thus free up the other weapons on offense. Owens is on pace for 90+ catches and 1200 yards which is a solid, if not spectacular, season for him; but the oppurtunities he creates for passing/running game by just him being on the field I beleive is understated.

4.) Patrick Crayton finally seems to be back from his 2005 leg injury against the Giants. He now seems to be that same reciever who looked so impressive in the 2005 opener at San Diego and Raiders game.

5.) That 1986 season would have been very specially if Danny White had not broken his hand. Yes, I'm still bitter!

I'm a real newbie to the site, but I think its one of the best NFL boards around.

:welcome:

Nice first post- Very good questions.

My take on it would be that the media picks and chooses what it wants to talk about and most fans are sheep.

Me too....on #5
And welcome aboard.
Thanks for joining the Romo Express all the way to the SB.

#5 I was 13 and just happy to get the Boys on TV every once in a while! I dont google but I do recall LT puttin the wood to Danny White that year, right?

#4 Crayton is back... but I think he is used more now that Bledose is out!!!

#3 Like everyone else including MeO I'm sick of the drops.... u cant have drops in the playoffs so he better get it out of his system! His hunger for media attention may cause problems between him and Romo!!!

#2 If we could get as lucky as the Saints and draft a Stud WR in the 7th round this team would set for years!!!

#1 the OL sucks and Romo is a Playmaker! an effective Combo that can be improved upon!!!

/quote]Patrick Crayton doesn't count? How about UFA's such as Sam Hurd?

How teams gameplan for you IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT my fellow zoners....that does not go unnoticed by me...read all of my posts here in the last couple of weeks..once I was on board that Romo is the real deal, I quickly began to look 5 years out....trying to determine if the team around Romo will allow us to be in the hunt year in and year out. The only poistion that concerns me is WR. We have to make sure Romo has the weapons he needs to make the game easy for him. He is good..but as one scout pointed out on ESPN, "the weapons he has on offense make his reads a whole lot better". I started a petition last week and it did not get much run..but I think we should offer up a high pick to Houston to see if they would part with Andre Johnson. Mike Holmgren gave up a #1 for Deion Branch because he reasoned Hassleback was in his prime and he wanted to give him as many weapons as possible to take advantage of this window. We cannot get caught with our pants down when it comes to TO and Glenn. We know their age....we know their injury history...and we should NOT be arrogant like the Pats front office and think any old WR will do. Get our next set of high powered WRs on the roster THIS offseason, so we can keep this thing rolling for the rest of this decade

There. Fixed it for ya.

Did you have to bring up 1986? Danny White has a 97.9 rating that year before being injured in the second Giants game. Dallas was 6-2 at the time.

Nice post.

But with Romo back there, teams just can't pin their ears back like with Bledsoe. Romo will make them pay either with his running or his quick passes.

Nice post - Romo has shaken so many sacks this year it's not funny. Whether it's that quick shoulder drop, letting the hand just roll off, or getting outside, he just gets it done.

Against the Giants, I think twice defenders had arm tackles around his thighs and he broke them, in addition to freaking McQuarters out on that crucial third down conversion.

Moxie, baby.
