I'm 44 and thinking "damn teenagers turn your music down".

I love straight 6 combustion engines and am getting more and more **** for it since everyone thinks they're the root for cancer or something.

I think freedom is the highest good and comes way before security.

I played games like Doom and Wing Commander on the PC when they came out.

I remember the difference between the picture quality of my first DVD compared to VHS like it was yesterday. A kid recently asked me what a DVD is. Really???!!! BDs aren't his thing either of course.

I remember real winters.

Lego used to be about your imagination and not some stupid movie licenses.

I was probably the last generation who as kids were outside until the street lights came on (and even then our moms had to look for us).

And so much more.

But I have to say, only recently I made my peace with all that. I stopped caring about what people think of my political or historical views, and my "ancient" opinions about the environment and who causes what.

I still have a way with women, even much younger ones flirt with me like hell and that's fun. But when I loose THIS trait one day it's gonna be hard. I mean I have a family and two awesome kids but I still enjoy "being allowed to stand around the table even though I don't play" anymore if you know what I mean. ;)

Told my wife whenever she sees me looking at a Porsche for more than 5 seconds to call the retirement home right away!

I'm the oldest of four boys. One of my younger brothers died nearly two years ago from a cardiac arrest. I hadn't seen him in 10 years and he did develop mental issues so I don't know what physical condition he was in, but still, he was my younger brother who died from that.

I'm also going to a lot more funerals.

I'm sorry for your loss, Jammer. If I don't go first, I have four older siblings, ages 62 up to 68. I'm not looking forward to that.

The look my grandson gives me when I tell him jokes is pretty much the same look I gave my grandfather when he did something similar... makes me feel old.

Really, it is anytime you see some sort of announcement about a particularly favorite album or song that starts with, "topping the charts 40 years ago today" and hearing Casey Kasem's voice in your head

Music…like most others have mentioned.

I had an underground hip-hop show at 90.1 KZSU Stanford back in the late 90s.

It’s a trip that all that music is considered classic hip hop now.

One guy I had on my show that is still relevant today making music in his late 40s is El-P (then Company Flow and now of Run the Jewels).

I bought my pickup new in 2018. Out of the gate I loved the engine and transmission combo. By far the best setup in any of the pickups I've owned.

About 40K miles in, the transmission started acting up. Nothing major, just annoying. About 50k miles in (over the last couple months) it changed from annoying to PItA. Something has to be done.

A couple weeks ago I'm driving down a rural road when I get passed by a young guy in a Honda. I laughed and remembered when I was the young guy passing the old guy in the pickup putting down the road. I felt old. About then the lightbulb came on and I started to wonder if my relatively newfound propensity to drive like an old lady might have something to do with the decline in performance of my pickup.

So, I drove to a suitable location and proceeded to give her the old Italian tune-up. Well hot diggity dog! After just one pass bouncing off redline in every shift everything smoothed right out and back to normal. I did two more passes just to be sure and to shake some of the old man off me and since then she's been running like a swiss watch.

I guess putting the pedal to the metal every once in a while is good for man and machine.

I lost and sister over 20 years ago to cancer and my brother last year to some kind of liver disease. Now it is just my older sister and I. I am the youngest. If I go before her I worry what will happen to her. She has been through a lot in her life. But she is such a good person I dread her going before me. Getting old is a gift in one sense, but a curse in another.

I played baseball with a bunch of 20 year old's yesterday, I am 49 and although I do look athletic and young for 49 the pitcher I faced was throwing stuff I have never seen before LOL....I wanted to hit his fastball because I had NO chance of hitting his slider or legit off-speed pitch

Reflecting upon what my granddaughter (again) and I thought about television and movies.

Television

Me (her age): "I cannot find anything to watch on television." My choices were CBS, ABC, PBS and (if the weather cooperated) NBC.
Her: "There's nothing on tv right now!" Her choices are dozens of cable channels, broadcast networks (including FOX), and Netflix, Prime Video, Peacock, Max, Apple+, Paramount+ and Crunchyroll streaming services

Movies

Me (her age): "This blockbuster movie is worth it!" I wait in long lines outside the theater, regardless of the weather, for hours.
Her: "Everybody is talking about this movie!" She goes to the metroplex, with 20 screens, ten minutes after the start time, and walks straight to a waiting seat she reserved already.

And she can be late to her movie too because they never start at the advertised time.

:(
