Think Pollard stays on as 2?

I don’t think he stays anymore than Alvin Harper would have.

No position is more 2nd contract dependent than RB.

Pollard has a lot of light shining on him with more likely to come. And the RB role has increased in the NFL, his shot at the brass ring and he deserves that.

They would have to flip the order to keep Pollard and I do not see the GM doing that so it is back to the draft for a RB.

I think the team sees Pollard as more of a 1A than a 2. He's earned the honor of being thought of in those terms. The Cowboys will have money to re-sign him if they want to. I think they will be able to sell Zeke on a re-negotiated contract on what is now a bona-fide good team and contender. He certainly is self aware enough to know he can't tote it 320 times a season anymore. He's going to get beat up, especially him being used as a glorified fullback as much as he is. He's going to get nicked up, miss time, all of it. So splitting those totes with Pollard (or some other young back) extends his career.

2023 options

1.Zeke huge pay cut stays, Pollard is FT, and Malik Is good enough to be the #2/3 either way.

2. Zekes cut, Pollard FT, Malik #2 and draft pick covers the loss of zeke.

with Schultz not staying IMHO and zekes pay cut or outright release we have the money and FT for Pollard..

if people were up in arms over zekes deal that means Pollard also should not get huge deal, sorry its fact , cant be hypocrites..

we will be fine our OL is getting Better each week and are young and run game are pretty good opening holes..
however it works out, we should be fine.
why seat it its just the RB position, fans say you can put anyone back there and be ok.. :)) im simply parroting the zones comments over the years about RBs, dont shoot the messenger.

I dont see any reason to not hit Pollard with the franchise tag this offseason. It's pretty reasonable for RBs.

I think that's what happens too. If I were him, I'd be pissed that it took to my contract year to finally be utilized properly but if you let cooler heads prevail, his market is at all all-time high and he has a shot at getting overpaid by Jerry.

Pollard's market should be around $12M, Cowboys can pay that with a Salary Cap rise, Shultz off the tag, and a looming Zeke pay cut. At worse, TP can play on the tag.

I don't think ego will come into play. I think TP can be compensated to his desire here.

Jerry loves Playmakers, so it's difficult to see them letting TP go.

I think I will not be concerned with this until late February or early March.

I am just focused on winning games.

But I have a feeling Zeke will restructure, take less $$$ and move some of that to Tony's contract to keep him.
Depending how successful in the playoffs also. Otherwise, wait until the time comes for me.

Points well taken.

However, "No position is more 2nd contract dependent than RB.".......justifies exactly what Zeke did, seeking compensation. TPollard should follow this blueprint (for personal security) and then become the New Fall Guy on this board, the moment the role playing YPC drop.

I don't see him getting 12 mill with all the other FA RB's that are going to be out there. I think he is an 8-9 mill guy. Saquan, Josh Jacobs and Miles Sanders are going to be the test of where the market is IMO and I would be shocked to see any of them get over 12 in todays RB market.

I hope we can keep him. Zeke's current team first attitude and winning now makes me think he might consider re-structuring his deal.

I assume many are not familiar with how we got here... Zeke held out for his mega contract, very doubtful he is going to take a pay cut. The best thing the team will get out of Zeke from a negotiation perspective is to push money into the future by restructuring which means the front office is willing to pay two RB starting money or let Pollard walk. The decision is pretty obvious and that's to let Zeke go.

I agree. Probably the only chance to keep him is if the team is willing to move on from Zeke and his contract. The dead cap space with cutting Zeke reduces dramatically after this year, so maybe ...?

TP hasn't made any big money yet.
What he does will likely be determined by how much GTD money he can get in the next contract.

I don't see any team making him the bell cow starter, but he is clearly explosive and has real dollar value.

Zeke will not return at his current money. So IF, big if, they do try to keep Pollard it ill basically mean taking a large part of Zeke's money and giving that to Pollard.

I know how we got here. However, I am talking about his current attitude. Maybe he has matured since then. Yes, people get funny with their money but I have been impressed with the bond Zeke and Pollard have fostered. Lamb said they are basically inseparable since they are always together. I am hoping for the betterment of the team, Zeke restructures.

If we do what we’re supposed to and unload Zekes contract TP would be the guy.
We need to unload Zeke's contract as it sits, but we need to keep Zeke. He gets 1st downs, het gets in the endzone and he blocks. He is still very valuable to this team... and we always hear about Chemistry..... make no mistake, Zeke is loved in this locker room.

We are in our SB window opportunity. Getting rid of both backs and thinking we can just replace them with a 3rd rd RB is foolish IMO. ut, those are the tough decisions facing this front office.
