Think the Jones' boys are seeing Lawrence wreak havoc on the Vikes?

"Favored to win 1st playoff game".

That and a quarter won't even get you a cup of coffee. How's that "we were favored" going to play if they don't win tomorrow night?

Interesting that you didn't mention they crapped the bed last year as a home favorite in the playoff first round.
You never heard of Jerry's fifth kid? Rambo Jones.

Williams and Lawrence both making an impact. And what do you know - both drafted in the first round. When will the Cowboys learn?
The Giants have had 6 top 10 draft picks in the last 7 years, 10 first round picks overall. They should be pretty good by now, no? With that many early picks they Giants should have some good players spread around their roster. In 2022 they drafted an OT and a DE at 5 and 7 and both players are going to be playmakers for them. The downside is at some point they will have to pay all those players. Even Danny Dimes is playing himself into a good contract.

Over the same period, the Cowboys have had 6 first round picks overall, and 1 top 10, 2 if you count the trade down to 12 in 2021. Drafting out of the top 10 all the time, and not being willing to pay free agents it is actually pretty amazing the Cowboys have won 12 games back to back years.

I'm not sure what this has to do with the point of my post? My point is taking the Ridgeway's of the world in the 5th round is borderline meaningless, especially at DT. Lots of teams take DTs in the first round. And let's not forget the Cowboys have sacrificed 1st round picks......for glamour positions other than DT.

Updated - maybe you are agreeing with me? Apologies if I misunderstood your post.

Maybe but Ridgeway is a JAG and not in the same stratosphere as guys like Lawrence and Payne.
Did you see Ridgeway now that he's with the Commanders? He performed a lot better for them as a rotational DT and actually got better as the season went along, unlike our DTs. Ridgeway actually made 5 very good run stuffing tackles against us last week. Not bad for a rookie "JAG" DT, huh? I would have rather had him than some of the JAGs we currently have.

I would say the fact you went back in time almost 20 years makes my point :)

Jerry thinks Lawerence is the quarterback for the Giants. smh
I doubt he watches much football other than Cowboys games these days. His son and that other guy are running the show now. Will something or other.

Cowboys do have a great record during the regular season when nothing is on the line; hearing the pundits proclaim their greatness, how talented they are and as a result, one of the teams favored to win the Super Bowl.
Then…with everything to play for they come out and play uninspired ball; they wilt under the pressure of the moment and exit the playoffs without so much as a whimper.

I’ve been a fan for over 40 years…and every year I think this could be the year they change the narrative…

I believe Lawrence is a FA after this season. Giants have to sign Barclay, Jones, Lawrence etc. jones looking at a big contract obviously.

He’s a JAG. We made a first time starting QB look good in that game too.

That doesn’t excuse the Cowboys and their roster mismanagement but fixing the DT spot goes well beyond having Ridgeway on the roster.

You're missing my point. It's clear Dan Quinn prefers smaller DTs. How has that worked out for us? I would rather have a big NT who is young and driven to keep getting better.

This is an idiotic argument I hear all the time

If the Giants have had multiple too 10 picks and we haven’t it means we have had a better record and more talent than them. Therefore we should have required less talent infusion to get over the hump than they did because we already had more

Try to get your mind around this fact

We have done less with more talent for longer

I don’t think it’s clear Quinn prefers just smaller DT’s. It was the prior regime that did that. Once Quinn was DC they actually drafted Bohanna and Ridgeway and picked up Hankins in FA.

The FO didn’t take DT’s that size in years prior to that.

The problem is. The FO hasn’t used a the needed resources to get a dominant DT. They consistently use 2nd or later rounders on guys.

They haven’t drafted or signed a blue chip DT in I don’t know how long…. La’Roi Glover

IAre you saying we lost Ridgeway because Quinn wanted smaller DTs?

I don't think that's the case here. What happened is the Cowboys didn't want to IR certain players and took a chance that Ridgeway would just fly through waivers and they could then put him on the practice squad. They miscalculated.

A legitimate DT can simply wreck things all by himself.

Our two "GMs" have yet to figure that out.
Our front office family members prefer a pass rushing “war daddy” to a run- wrecking DT. Their first line of thinking is “who will sell the most jerseys?”

Giants always seem to get some nice DT’s.

Not an accident. That organization regardless of GM/coach values the position. Linval Joseph, Hankins(young), Dalvin Tomlinson, Leonard Williams and Dexter Lawrence. That's just in the past 10 years. Tomlinson is probably the weak link of this group and still would be the best
DT in Dallas since young Ratliff.

And for the record, I agree that the Cowboys completely botched those roster moves. But are you surprised?

That being said, my eyes are on targets bigger than Ridgeway. I can't cry over Ridgeway when he's not good enough to make the DT rotation significantly better.

I am being foolish but I am hoping for a serious DT overhaul this offseason.
