True. Jason Witten absolutely knows more about playing TE than Kellen Moore could ever teach him. He was drafted in 2003. Kellen Moore was 14 years old! Do you honestly think Moore has any insight that Witten doesn't about the position?Wrong.
I really am hoping Moore figures out a way to use Witten in the red zone.
He is not goin to be near jarwins stats
When you lose a step in the blocking game, heaven help you
It certainly stands up to the light of reasoned scrutiny ,tho,I was liking yer' previously opined envisioned prediction of 11 t.d.'s ,personallySo . . . maybe Witten has lost a step in the blocking game. And that's not good.
But in this offense, under Kellen Moore, I think he can be more productive than ever in the passing game where it matters.
Yep, Witten is getting old.
But he's not too old to play this game.
And what he lacks now from age, he makes up for with wisdom.
I personally expect his number of TDs to increase.
If we are to be a better team in the red zone, which I hope was our #1 focus this off-season, Witten has to score.
His best year ever for TDs was 9.
I'm personally OK with him getting 500-600 yards.
But I want to see Kellen Moore work his magic and squeeze 9 TDs out of an aging Witten.
I know it sounds crazy. But that was a big problem with Linehan's offense. He never could use Witten's height in the red zone or knack for getting open in the red zone.
I somehow think Moore will find a way to score with Witten.
Just a hunch. I could be wrong, like many times before.
But I see Witten as a scoring machine in 2019.

So what are the ways to use a guy who is slower than every player who covers him and can't jump? There's a reason Witten has never scored much - it's becuase he doesn't have the physical tools of Gronk, Gonzalez, Gates.
We’ll know after a few games if he can still contribute. If not, get the young guys more involved and phase out Witten and let him retire again.

* whenever a players age is bandied about? My thoughts harken back to that Superbowl the Fecals stumbled into, where Tom Brady was running down the sideline in the pass catcher mode for a guaranteed T.D. & he'd executed his "jump ball " ability with all the athletic efforted aplomb of that displayed of a 50 y.o. washwoman who'd sideline as a fish monger down on the warf during the weekends,,,SHEESE,,,did he even clear 8" in height when going after that ball?
I'm hoping to see Witten's career extended, by using him mostly in scoring or short yardage situations.
As far as between the 20s, give the other guys the reps.
That's how I'd handle Witten from here on out.
I want him fresh in the red zone.
We need the brains down there. And we need to preserve the depth at the position while developing the younger guys.
Me too, I just hope the young guys will learn something

Wisdom?
like jumping off-sides and holding and other penalties.
wisdom won't help him break a tackle.
he's consistently taken down dead in his tracks by DB's 40lbs lighter than him.
He was a great player at one time.
I get what you are saying. But what I am saying is that there is nothing else to do with Witten because of his limited physical tools. He can only beat man coverage on option routes. This is known, and has been for a long time. As such, there's nothing else to do with him in the red zone. Is he good at finding soft spots against zones, sure, but that's always been true. It's not like Moore can split him out wide to throw fades or expect him to win on a slant. No, no.. That's not what I'm saying.
I"m saying Witten has always been so great; he just does what he's told.. plays his role to a tee.
I'm saying Kellen Moore can have a slightly different role for Witten this year, than the one he's played before.
And that role [theoretically] involves being a focal point to score TDs in the red zone.
Please don't confuse what I'm saying, although I can say this.
Anyone willing to learn can usually learn something from somebody else..

Jason Witten is absolutely willing to learn and absolutely nothing to learn from Moore.
Where does anyone get that he has lost a step? He played one preseason game.
