This current core leaves me so hopeful

They'll trade Osweiler to someone like Cleveland or the LA Chargers. I agree, they probably can't take on both QB contracts.
Osweiler has a $16 million salary for 2017. Some organization is stupid enough to trade for that?

I honestly don't think so. The Texans have made an huge mistake.
Yeah, they're going to have to eat it and cut him as soon as it's feasible.

Romo would make them a legitimate contender, if he could stay healthy.

Why would either of those teams be interested in Brock?

How could you sell a trade like that to your fan base as any kind of upgrade or possible move for a franchise qb?

Without help in FA, we will need two defense heavy drafts to catch up, unless we have another draft like 2016
Adding Smith and Tapper will make a difference but you are right we likely need to add a pass rusher in FA. A teir 2 guy not some overpriced player who will command $15M or more per year.

What are everyone's feelings about keeping Mo Claiborne in the "current core"?

This answer heavily depends on the value he finds in the open market, which I'm not sure any other teams will be able to judge very well. He's injury prone but showed some real promise earlier this year.

Up until this week, I'd have wanted him back on a value contract. It's best that we move on now, though. He just can't stay healthy for whatever reason, so you can't carry him.

Painful yes, but you're a young fan if this is most painful loss. Cowboys lost two NFL Championships before SBs in painful endings. Cowboys have lost more NFC championships than you can count on one hand. Yes, we've won five SB's, but we've also lost 3 Super Bowls, two to Pittsburg with Roger Staubach, Dorsett, Pearson &Hill, and that Doomsday Defense....now those were painful losses with teams you believed would be champions.

All playoff losses hurt, but this loss was a play or two from being a Staubach type come from behind victory upon which legends are born....Heath's second INT stands or that Dak pass on third down to Dez doesn't get batted down to force the FG. SIGH....it didn't happen, but so freaking close to everyone talking about the rookies and the team that came back rather than all the Rodgers love.
This one doesn't even crack the top 10 for longtime cowboys fans.

I think I would agree with you, but like Sean Lee I would ride out the health bug for another year, but only if he will take a very similar 1yr/$3m deal. As long as that does NOT preclude signing a #2 or better CB in FA, and taking another in one in the higher rounds in the draft.

I'm right there with you on both accounts. Time to move on. That look on his face as he sat there on the sideline made me cringe. Snakebitten.

Great point. But it still hurt pretty bad. People at work are telling me I've taken it better than most. Hey... I see the brightness in the future of this team. There's a guy here at work that I have already decided to give three days of mourning before we talk Cowboys. He's pretty emotional.

Yea it was a difficult loss no doubt. Anytime you lose to a team you believe you are better than and didn't play to your strength, you always wonder why.
I'm taking the approach that better things are ahead for this core and I believe it

This loss hurt but it didn't hurt me as much as 2007 did. I think 2014 was even worse because I still think we were robbed. Those 3 NFC title games in the 80's hurt worse. That 1994 Title game with SF where we outplayed them in every quarter but the first and those 2 SB's with Pittsburgh. I think why this one hurt was because of the longevity since we were last in a championship game. Maybe all these playoff losses lately have left me immune.

If we fail to make the playoffs, Garrett is likely done. I'm weary of teams firing coaches after making the playoffs. The Bears still haven't recovered from firing Lovie Smith after a 10-6 season.
Not go a happen. No worries

OK, well, let me be the barer of bad news. We have no defensive line. Like none, at all. We have no secondary. At all. Sean Lee is getting old, and we have no other players at Sam and Will. Doug Free is a turnstyle, we don't know what we have with Collins/Leary, and ultimately, we don't know if Dak is capable of doing what he did in 2016. If Dak goes down, do you feel confident in Kellen Moore? I would say there are more question marks going into 2017 than 2015.
That is just histrionic crybaby BS. The statement that we have zero in the DL and in the Secondary is absolutely false.

Reminds me of the year we got our tail kicked by Detroit under Jimmy, the next year we made our SB run. We need two Defensive starters from this yrs draft + 1 free agent signing of medium size on the defense as well...add in a new #2 receiver please.
