When I look at the landscape of the good NFL Defenses, they all have that dominate interior DT:

-Donald, Kenny Clark, Chris Jones, Vea to name a few.

This is the type of piece the Cowboys Defense sorely lacks. We need a 3 down Defensive Tackle who is good against the run and has rush abilities against the pass. Blow up the pocket and force the QB off their spot to allow our edge rushers to finish.

The goal is to be able to stop the run or defend the pass without needed extra men in the box to do so. Modern football era, having that extra man in coverage is such an advantage.

Who fits that profile in this year's class? Leal, Wyatt? Mathis?

Unfortunately no one IMO…it’s a pretty weak class. Leak is highly rated and might have the highest ceiling but he played a ton of DE in college so there’s quite a bit of risk in projection.

I actually think a full offseason of adding bulk / strength will help Osa continue to develop. He showed some exiting flashes this year.

The NT from UConn is a good player to add some depth mid round.

Let's hope Osa and Gallimore continue to improve, I'm looking more for a 3 down NT with rush abilities. Both Wyatt, Mathis peak my interest in filling that role, Ridgeway from Arkansas does too. These are more day 2 prospects.

Fingers crossed...I think best we can do in this draft is just add another piece of the rotation.

I think ideally you try to bring back a guy like Urban who would've been a big help for our run D down the stretch.

Mathis is a really good player. Good run defender with some pass rushing abilities as well. Solid 2nd round guy. Ridgeway is as a mid round prospect I like.

There's like 4 guys in this draft that fit that

Davis Georgia
Mathis Bama
Jones Connecticut
Ridgeway Arkansas

Mathis had the best production at least in terms of pass rush than the others.

If DQ signs off on it I would love to take him at 24. The old regime would say he’s not a scheme fit.

Mathis at 24 is rich he is mid second to mid third

Based on what? Who do you comp him too coming out? Who’s a full sized SEC DT that had 9 sacks coming out? Definitely more production than Chris Jones and he went top of 2 after we took swiper.

Not my comparison, but I’m seeing Dalvin Tomlinson quite a bit

So you’re saying in that Hill/Gallimore/Osa range?

Pretty much.

The fact this draft is super deep with other positions doesn't mean he won't get over drafted.
But his true value is some where in there based off how deep this draft is.

Doesn’t he blow those guys off the field in terms of who they were as college players?

But you have to understand there's some good players who will fall because of how loaded this class is.

If you watched any mock draft you see maybe 2 QBs going in the top 32.

I'd bet 5
You see like 5 or 6 olineman I'd bet close to 10.
No RBs? Bet maybe 1.
Wrs u see what 4 I'd bet 7

You see what I'm saying.people are gonna slide and that's not mentioning the second round. I'd bet Davis goes around where we pick maybe after.

This draft is a draft where you can fix alot of holes and this is a draft I would sell my entire next year's draft off just to get certain players.

What If I said this.
Chiefs don't make it to the super bowl there at 30. We offer them Cooper we retain 10 million of his salary and we also throw in a 5th rounder this year and 5th next year.
We get your 1st and 2nd rounder.
And at pick 30 Jamison Williams Wr Bama is there or Trey Burks Arkansas?
Would you be ok with that?

Of course this is hypothetical

This is deep at spots but not loaded. The top
of the draft is weak weak weak.

Probably will likely see a low cost veteran signing
