Not saying he will redshirt but he is a rookie who's going to be missing some valuable time. He's going to miss the rest of OTA's and they're saying he "could" be back by the end of training camp, it's all speculative. There's no guarantees he participates in training camp or preseason we'll just have to see. If he's not coming along the way the team had hoped during his rehab period they may not play him in 2016. Chaz Green was injured in June last year and was still expected to play last season. After he underwent hip surgery he was expected to be limited in training camp and ended up being put on PUP.

Big diff between Green, a rookie OL on the best OL unit in the NFL by FAR,being put on PUP and Collins, a 3Tech DT with intense quickness n penetration skills n the ability to make an immediate impact on a much-maligned DL unit...

I find it hilarious how many people are talking about just how bad our defense is, definitely laughable.

The prior year the Panthers made the playoffs with a losing record. They had the 21st ranked defense in the NFL. They had Greg Hardy, but he was suspended for the entire year and they did not re-sign him.

They had the 19th ranked offense in the league.

The next year they were the 1st ranked offense in the league and the 6th ranked defense in the league.

Are there a lot of IFs on this defense? Absolutely, there are, but people are ignoring the investments we've made that have yet to bear fruit.

Second year defensive players - Randy Gregory, Byron Jones. Two players with first round grades and while Randy Gregory is suspended for 4 games, I believe once he returns he will have an impact. I think Jones at safety full time will have a large impact.

Returning players - Orlando Scandrick. I think a couple years ago Scandrick was one of our best players on defense. Probably the second best player on defense behind Sean Lee at the time. His return seriously bolsters the secondary.

I fully expect this defense to look different this year especially given the position the offense will put it in. Despite going 4-12, that defense was ranked 16th in the NFL in points... Certainly not as bad as people would suggest, but that is the narrative people are running with.

You can only form an opinion from what this group has done in the past. Right now they are a defense with little pass rush and turnovers are almost nonexistent . There is plenty of chances for improvement, but posters have every reason to doubt the defense.

Disagree with getting a similar RB...no one comes close to helping the team as to what Elliott does. Except maybe Henry in the 2nd, but still not as much.
Would you trust any of the remaining RB's in the draft to protect Romo on blocking assignments? I wouldn't.
And as proven over and over again, as Romo goes, so does the team for the most part.

Zeke ain't all that dude. Stop kissing his feet like he's the savior to the team. LOL

You lost me when you said Church was adequate. When was the last time you remember him making a play on a passed ball? He had a ball tip right to him in 2014 is what I remember. Dude just cannot drive on throws and it makes him an easy read.

Jones will help but Wilcox already capped the top pretty well as you say; my concerns is the soft spots up the hashes and between the S and the LB where we have been killed for years. Jones needs to start making plays on the ball too. Scandrick has notoriously bad hands of stone.

Church actually accumulates a truck load of tackles in a season. Last year, he was actually one of the top tacklers for a safety.

If he was a LBer then great. He still cannot cover worth a damn. His range is poor and he is an easy read for QBs cause he isn't driving on the ball to the point where you need worry about it.

Short are quickness is his game and sure as a box S he can tackle but he pigeonholes the defense. He's not the worst player much less S we've had out there but he is limited when we need dynamic coverage players.

LOL.............likes is that all you try for? NO wonder.

Trust me, all I have to do to get likes is post some positive rant about the Cowboys and Cowboy fans are going to like it. Maybe that is exactly why you do it. Does it make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside when you see all the likes?

"The Cowboys will be amazing this year and Elliott will be a stud" like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like................................:muttley:

Keep on believing all others are fished eyed fools...

He was playing for a new contract last year too... Guy sucks, just live with it.

LOL -- good to see you're looking at it with such an open mind. I'll be willing to let his play speak for itself this year, for the better or worse. Granted, his play has been fairly disappointing but at least part of that is due to the expectations being so badly overinflated from the start. Hopefully, the injuries and subsequent loss of confidence as a result will finally subside. If not, expect him to be sent packing at year's end.

I'm not skilled at changing how good a player is simply by cheering for him... so the team needs you, not me.

Far too many fans think there cheering and support can hel a team win. They need to grow up. These players are full grown adults and the fans has no effect on the level of play. I laugh when I read these comments about cheering them on to victory.

Exactly. It's just a statistical anomaly that through out sports, most teams home game record all-time is better than their away record. That doesn't mean anything.

if they stay healthy I think the offense will be pretty good but this defense I'm sure will let the team down again as they have for years now.
