Seeing how this fanbase reacted today is why we are mocked across the nation. We accept mediocrity and not only that, we celebrate it. You would think we would have won some kind of championship. The 5 rings mentality is real. Too many live in the past and are not comfortable in moving on. We want to hang onto the past so often because it's familiar. Witten has not played in a year and is way past his prime. He will be upper 30s by the time training camp starts. Do people not realize how ineffective he was? We are paying $3.5-5mill for a guy who can only do a few things and some kind of a niche player. But Jerry's charity is always open to his pet favorites. Who cares about developing the TE's we have and getting some down the field ability, let's bring back Witten. Yay mediocrity!! Can't wait for his 3-4 yard routes where he catches the ball and falls down.

Ineffective.
If Jason Witten in 2017 was ineffective, so were 20+ other starting TEs.

Yea not really glad he's back. He was a great Cowboy and I loved him but sometimes you just have to move on. Getting Jason back isn't going to make us SB champs and we need to find our next great TE.

It starts with Jerry and his brilliant choices for the coaching staff. Garrett is still employed with nothing to show for 8 years as HC. The guy they put in the OC spot - thats the biggest head scratcher. The guy played in 3 total games in his 'career' riding the bench, but somehow that awesome resume qualified him for a QB coaching job, and now the OC spot one year later.

When the owner/GM is so accepting of mediocre results, what are the homers left with? Celebrating crappy moves like bringing back an over the hill TE?

You're right.

Dak is the definition of mediocrity.

And he's about to get $150 million.

I'm not a Dak fan, but I'll come to his defense on one issue - he had a terrible QB coach. I wonder if would actually improve if he had a better mentor?

Any one crying about a guy making $3.5m for one season really doesn't understand the salary CAP.

Also, just look around the league last season, and please tell me how many teams couldn't use a player like Witten. The position is depleted.

I just hope he is coming in to fill a role and not be a 90% of the snaps player.

Jarwin had a 3 TD game.
Schultz was last years 4th round pick.
Swaim is one of daks trusted targets.

Our first of our limited draft picks is a second rounder and we just lost our second best pass rusher for the year and one of our defensive tackles.
We still have heath as a starter which isn’t going to win us the super bowl either.
We can not afford to be caught with our pants down again and must continue adding offensive line depth, especially with Fleming leaving again.
Sean Lee could be gone and Damien Wilson is a free agent. So linebacker is now a need.

With so many holes to fill, it’s nice not having to spend another pick on a TE.

Witt will get his 20-25 snaps a game.
Jarwin and Schultz get to be in the room with one of the all time best.

Witten will be taking up 1.8% of the salary cap.
When he last played(only one year ago), he was statistically a top 10 TE.

Thank you.
The salary cap is 190+ million.
And they cry over his 3.5.

This makes no sense, referencing our Super Bowl days. Not comfortable with moving on from what? Two and a half decades of failure? Most people around here don't even remember our last Super Bowl, and I have to put in a VCR tape to get the feeling again. Sure, there are casual fans who are just fine with Garrett's process and the Cowboy Way, but we desperate fans are legion. There is one man who has accepted mediocrity, and his name is Jerry Jones.

Agree 10000%

What’s funny is his last year people were saying he couldn’t hey downfield, was slow and was running short routes that Dak depended on. Somehow 2 years later we got an All Pro

What makes me sad is that I think they brought him in to be a future coach and carry on the JG “we are so close tradition”
