This Fanbase Celebrates Mediocrity

Most of em dont know any better. There are now fans who have been born, graduated college, and entered the work force since this team last played in an NFC Championship game. Its all they know.

Seeing how this fanbase reacted today is why we are mocked across the nation. We accept mediocrity and not only that, we celebrate it. You would think we would have won some kind of championship. The 5 rings mentality is real. Too many live in the past and are not comfortable in moving on. We want to hang onto the past so often because it's familiar. Witten has not played in a year and is way past his prime. He will be upper 30s by the time training camp starts. Do people not realize how ineffective he was? We are paying $3.5-5mill for a guy who can only do a few things and some kind of a niche player. But Jerry's charity is always open to his pet favorites. Who cares about developing the TE's we have and getting some down the field ability, let's bring back Witten. Yay mediocrity!! Can't wait for his 3-4 yard routes where he catches the ball and falls down.

For 3.5 mill I will gladly take him. He’s twice as good as any te on the roster and a great leader. Need multiple te’s and he’s fine as one of the 3.

Man..

This is as a repugnant post as I have seen.

You think bringing back a HofF TE to help this team is some sort of ignorance by the fan base?

What a freaking moron.

So who are you going to play who meets your measuring stick?

Schultz?

A rookie 4th Rd TE like Schultz was?

I guess we are all just stuck in the past?

I am ignoring you going forward.

Only reserved for trolls.

Get back under your bridge.

What are you talking about? Don't you read these posts? This fan base revels in despair and negativity. Just like this post.

Quit rolling over for fans of other teams. If you can’t win a football debate with anyone but a Pats or Stealers fan at this point, I don’t know what to tell you.

But he can only do a few things.

Those things.

Get open.
Catch the ball.
Block.

Terrible qualities for a TE, clearly.
Did he get open, or did they let him catch a 6 yard pass when 8 were needed, rightly believing they could tackle him before he got the extra 2 yards and all that with the Sam lb covering him. Didn't he lead the team in holding penalties that last year or was that overall penalties when including false starts?

And he still outperformed 2/3 of all starters around the league. That’s not worth 1% of your salary cap?
In what way? His YPC was low (8.9), his 1st down rate was poor (41%), and his catch rate was only 72%.

Number of catches isn't indicative of performance. He wasn't very good.

He averaged 9 yards a catch and got a first down 41% of those catches.

Some people won’t appreciate talent until we’re back running chad Hutchinson and Troy hambrick with Randall Williams out wide
These numbers aren't good.

Of TEs with at least 20 catches (39 total), his YPC was 33rd, and his first down rate was 35th.

It sounds like Witten will have a significantly reduced role at a reasonable pay rate.
No sure what the big deal is.
