This Garrett situation is definitely about the money

If his contract expires in 12 days, and there is a provision to pay him out a severance if he is let go before this date, this could be part of the hold up. The Jones boys have been odd about paying people to do nothing.

If you remember, they didn't want a "walk around" head coach, because they didn't want to pay a real offensive coordinator. Part of the same reasoning. The short answer is they are making Garrett stay until the end of his contract. I wouldn't be surprised if he was washing Jerry's car while he was out on vacation in Aspen.

I just hope Jerry has a new HC agreed to terms and not waiting to do some searching for a coach 2 weeks from now.

There is no way this has to do with 10 day buyout or any other "golden parachute" that possibly could be in Garrett's contract.

Sorry but this has nothing to do with the last 2 weeks of Garrett's contract. What this is all about is Jerry Jones' need to keep himself in the media spotlight by dragging this out. If he is going to replace Garrett, the media is clamoring to see when that happens and then who will replace Garrett. If Jerry decides to keep Garrett, then Jerry is using the media to drag this out and in essence lessen the 'impact' keeping Garrett will have on the fans because they will have been tired of waiting to hear news.

Bottom line: this is simply about Jerry's ego.

The more likely scenario is they're negotiating his extension.

LOL. 10 days of severance is a pittance.

Jerry has spent more money on useless crap like cars, houses and Nolan Carroll.
severance packages are different part of a contract. he could be owed extra millions if he is let go earlier in addition to his salary to the end of the contract....

probably an exercise in mollification/assaugement. what could we (fo) have done to help you more, Jason? what might you do differently in the future to right the ship? the denouement has yet to be written.

Two weeks of Garrett's 5 year, 30MM contract is $230,000. The scotch restocking bill on the yacht is more than that.

Its either a front office position or the next HC is coaching in the playoffs right now so there is no reason to do anything this week. If you take all the hatred out of it, if you have a HC in position for ten years you would want him spending the last two weeks on exit interviews, transition issues, player recommendations, etc.

Actually you would not.

Why would you care what the 10 year HC that didn't win anything had to say about the current roster, transitioning to another coach, etc?

If anything, you'd want as little input from him as possible and let those interviewing for the job tell you what they think about the roster, changes they would need to see happen, etc.

Nope. He’s done in Dallas as a HC. This is about emotion and making it easy on Garrett.

I hope you're right. But I'd be surprised because that's not normally how men act.
