At the pro level it's a job playing a game. At the end of the day...win or lose...makes no difference to the world in general.

At the level you coached at there is a lot of good that comes from playing the game/participating in any sport really. Kids learn a lot about life.

Winning and losing is huge to the world in general, ah......gambling $$$$$$$?

It’s a job for them. But for months out of the year it means more for me than it does them. And they get paid millions to play a game I love to watch. I know they want to win. And they also want good stats because it reflects there future paycheck. I expect more than they do. I am a fanatic. Love my team. Been hooked since I am 7. Used to kick and scream in the floor when they were losing to the steelers in the 70’s in the Super Bowls. Rode high in the 90’s when I was a young adult. And now yell and scream at the TV like a 50 year should.

These guys put their bodies on the line every Sunday. They spend the days in between recovering and training just to go back out there and do it again.

They suffer painful injuries, often requiring surgeries and months of rehab, yet keep doing it (knowing they could get injured again).

To think those 3 hours you dedicate each week to sitting on your couch mean more to you than the game does to them comes across as absurd to me.

We are fanatics, but to players and coaches....it's a job. We have many different members here and most of us have jobs that we are paid to do and judged on our performance...we compete against other companies and coworkers....same for these guys....many of us live vicariously through them and some of us go a bit to far with hate, homerism, whatever.....just like a pee wee league parent ripping a 5 year for missing a block.
I was pissed off on Thursday, many players and coaches to blame....at the end of the day, my griping or my defending players and coaches don't make a difference, and it doesn'tmake me feel better....

That said, the difference in fans is what makes this place fun and frustrating as well.

Once people realize that this is entertainment and really has no impact on their day to day lives, they will be so much better off. I learned a long time ago not to worry too much about things that I can't control. Do I want the Cowboys to win superbowls? Of course. Do I lose sleep at night if they don't? Nope. Does this make me less of a fan? Not at all. Whether I am happy they won or pissed off that they lost doesn't mean a darn thing to those guys at the Star.

I watched the Thanksgiving game with my mother, at her house. Not only did I get aggravated with the team and the officiating, but my 82 year old mother was pissed off and had her heart pounding too. The biggest problem was she didn't really know what she was pissed about, and I had to explain it to her while I was fuming about it.

Do you have any idea how frustrating it is to have to explain to someone why they're pissed off?

That's not good for your mother! I hate watching the games around a bunch of family. I'm fine and quiet when their winning but angry and pissed when their losing. I told my father inlaw to F off one Thanksgiving. Was embarrassed about it but never apologized.

I can't think of anyone I respected more than Pat Tillman. Service to the country meant more to him than football. Good luck finding anyone in the NFL today who would have the balls to make the same sacrifice.

Interesting take and, for what it is worth, I am in complete agreement.

Honestly, I was pretty disgusted with last Thursday's game. After a few hours, however, I came full circle to where I was last year: pro sports essentially are a form of entertainment. Sure, it is a job for the players, coaches and FO, but it entertainment for us.

Doesn't mean we are not fans and, at times, fanatics.

That's a BS perspective. I do this for free, no I pay to do this because I buy all that Cowboys merch. Those players get paid to play a game. When they finish a season they don't give a crap about football. I love football all year long 24/7. When my team loses it ruins my week and when my team doesn't do well in the playoffs it ruins my year. The players go party and have a rich man's life in the offseason so don't try to BS me by saying it's a job. It's a privilege to play a game for a living.

Well just to let you know I sit in my recliner. Not a couch.. lol. Just kidding and I totally understand what your saying. The game is there job and that’s what they love to do.. What I am saying is that they are trained to let it go before I do. I get so into the game that it bothers until the next Sunday morning.. They have to leave it behind after a day and look to the next team. I as a fan dwell..
