This is how bad our backup QB situation is

The front office was confident that they could waive and release them knowing not a single team would claim or sign them after their cuts so that they'd end up on the practice squad....

Lmao

We have nothing behind #4. Nothing. And it's going to bite us. The offense should be doing what the defense is doing. And it's doable. Very good talent we could have used at QB, WR, RB, and TE were left unsigned and unexplored. It's the Cowboy way. This defense will be good but this offense is in trouble.

Which teams...how many? have able compttant #1 backup QB's. Again...what is your criteria and is it feasible for any given team.

I am sure we are the ONLY team without a genuine #1 QB sitting at the #2 backup spot.

Rush could not be claimed by anyone. He could've chosen to sign as a free agent, but he's a vested veteran so not subject to waivers.

Hopefully the trolls see how ridiculous it is to bash Dak. We should consider ourselves lucky to have Dak, and hope he stays healthy. If he gets injured, the season is finished.

Our backup QB situation wouldn’t be any better if we signed another QB that was available. They’re all garbage but at least these two QBs spent OTAs and training camp with us. Plus Cooper Rush led us to a win last season and is 1-0 as a starter.
You nailed it.

Truth is there is so many QB's like the one's the Cowboys released available that I am not sure it really matters. The only good thing about no one else signing them is that they know the COWBOYS playbook, line calls, all that. As far as talent between all the available QB's not sure it is worth bothering talking about. None of them are really good enough or shown enough to the people that matter.

it’s really this simple and many teams out there have backups that are literally the same quality

Cooper wasn’t subject to waiver claims so there was a wink wink deal in place, that gave them the luxury of taking a chance with Grier!

He looked better in that close loss to Pittsburgh where the defense blew it, then ANYTHING that Rush has ever done....can make more throws.
I disagree. Rush had a solid game against Minnesota last season. You can't say that a close loss in Pittsburgh was a better performance than Rush's win in Minnesota.

Gilbert is now on his 10th NFL team of his 8 year career, plus a stint with the Orlando Apollos.

But losing to Pittsburgh, when he threw an end zone pick with the Cowboys leading in the second half, has made him a CZ JAG legend. :muttley:

Dallas kept guys they can't keep because they knew they'd get picked up quickly. They're trying to work trades with the extra week.

Strategy. We'll see if it works.

There are about 15 good quarterbacks in the world. The rest are horrible.

I had our backup QB and offensive line problems figured out before the draft.

In the first we draft Desmond Ridder. Ridder would have given Dak some competition...,making Dak play better.

In the 2nd we take OT Abraham Lucas. Lucas is big and strong enough to play guard if needed. But I would have kept Collins and demoted Badiasz.

In the 3rd we take TE Charlie Kolar.

4th we take Guard Marques Hayes.

And some where in the 5th we take DE Isaiah Thomas.

The other picks... I knew we needed a CB, because I had no faith in N.Wright.

We needed a DT because that position was weak.

We needed a LB because I had no faith in LVE.

So with me, we have a great offensive line, a good backup pushing Dak, and still filled somel of our other holes.

But this is just me letting you know how I had it all figured out before the draft. Kind of like you saying you had it figured out after Dallas drafted Tyler Smith. AFTER!!!
