To be sure, it's unlikely we would have cut our backup QBs if they were actually hot stuff -- it was a calculated risk, no doubt. :flagwave:

Says our #2 QB is worse than every #3 in the league.

It may be true that Rush can't be claimed on waivers - but all that means is that all 31 other teams had immediate access to him rather than waiting for waivers - so he was easier to sign.

P.S. salaries are lower than vet minimum,. I dont buy that Rush wouldnt have taken a guaranteed vet min salary somewhere else ahead of a ...."maybe we'll activate you now and then" promise. Especially with another similar QB also on the Cowboys PS.

Yep, they are all in on Dak.
It he gets hurt for any length of time the season is over.
Which makes the handling of the left tackle position so mind boggling.
This is THE problem with this organization. It is NOT a real football organization. It is Super Bowl or BUST every year. There are organizations...with a culture...and they draft to that cutlure....they play to that culture...preseason...in the playoff hunt...out of the playoff hunt...they never stray too far off of that culture. And it pays off!!!! Do they win the Super Bowl ever year? No...but no one does. But...but...they are in contention more often than not.

The year Romo went down...it was maybe in 2015 ...forget we could not win games. Forget we could not score points....we could not get first downs!!!!!!!!! Matt Cassell had actually made the Pro Bowl in 2010(as an alternate) with the Cheifs. Matt Cassell had actually won double digit games with the Pats. That is 2 different organizations he at least appeared to be a competent professional QB. In Dallas? He looked like we pulled him out of the stands at halftime!

But you are right...if Dak goes down...just like when Romo went down....we will crank up the cage dancers...open the beer taps....turn on the disco ball...and run the misdirection to ensure ALL fans are having the time of there lives in hopes they will not notice the dismal display of football on the field!!

We are too focused on entertainment, and not focused enough on winning.
Bitcoin gets addressed in the off season and swing tackle does not.
How does this happen?

The front office was confident that they could waive and release them knowing not a single team would claim or sign them after their cuts so that they'd end up on the practice squad....

Lmao

Watch out.

Some people will accuse you of breaking some imaginary rule in their head that says you can't criticize the backup here.

Get your tissues ready.

I was going to post the same thing.

I don't know what is worse .. that they expected no one would claim them .. or .. that if someone did, they cared so little about losing them.

Either way, that tells you all you need to know about those players.

Yes sir.

It wouldn't be a sin to upgrade there if we could.

Our backup QB situation wouldn’t be any better if we signed another QB that was available. They’re all garbage but at least these two QBs spent OTAs and training camp with us. Plus Cooper Rush led us to a win last season and is 1-0 as a starter.
......and Cooper is in the OC Training program.

It's troubling, but it's also a league wide issue. How many teams would be in great shape if their starting QB went down? Four? Maybe five?

ANd generally those 4 or 5 would only be in good shape because the starter is not much better.

The saddest part is that they KNOW that they are sooo bad that nobody will pick them up. And yet these are the guys they choose to be their backups.

Cooper Rush played well enough last year to warrant sticking around at a very small cap hit.
Lets be real, any team that has a backup starting any significant time is in big trouble. We had a playoff experienced career starter in here as our backup not that long ago, and when he took over, we stunk.

Thats where i am if they can be had at minimul cap stress then great lets upgrade, signing a better backup at a higher cap hit to not lose as bad if the starter goes down is wasted money to me.
