People keep talking about all these games Romo has missed over his career,
even the idiots on ESPN, the NFL Network, reporters etc do they not research their **** before they open their mouths? 27 games as a 10yr starter, is that correct?

22 are from that collarbone. They claim to have figured out why it snapped easier than it should.
He had a defect in it...a notch in the actual bone that kept breaking at the same place.
They claim to have fixed it long term.

Of course he still will always have regular excercise said he'll need to do to protect his back and core.

I can see people saying he is an injury risk because of the back issues he had to end 2013 and throughout the 2014 season. But no one can convince me that I should be worried about Romo being injury prone, and that the Cowboys have to think WHEN not IF Romo gets hurt. Romo plays through more injuries than most, it's going to take a serious injury or a scary back injury for Romo to sit out a game. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Romo protect himself more this year, after losing so much time last year.

I expect Romo to have a great year and win a lot of games. I am not sure if he will have gaudy stats because of the running game, but I think he will rack up the wins. I am thinking 12 wins this year unless the defense is horrendous.

If his back is bothering hm and he needs one week off--say the week before the Thanksgiving game--I'm fine letting Dak get some real experience.
Would prefer not, but if it's just one game and helps the playoff run, I'm ok.

Romo isn't an injury risk any more than Brady or Brees, or Ruthlessraper. Older QBs tend to heal slower, but I think this will be a great year for him. Good luck and good health.

When you compare him to other vet QBs, that's still a lot of games missed. You got admit you cringe a little every single time he's hit now b/c of the risk of re-injuring previous injuries.

Not really when you consider that the refs protect other QBs and let Romo get his *** hammered game after game. I would say Romo is pretty ******* resilient.

I worry about his back, if anything. The collarbone, not so much as he doesn't really have a trick collarbone or anything. Those things just break when you put too much weight on them, whoever the QB is.

Overall, though, I'm not overly worried about Romo. I don't like exposing starters in preseason games, but when it comes to the regular season, use them up and hope for the best.

And when you toss up those stats trying to prove Father Time wrong, you ignore that he is getting older. That his body isn't as youthful and his recovery isn't as quick.

Can he play a complete season? Sure he can.

In a game where violence is the focal point is he more susceptible at this age to get hurt.

Probably.

One last point. Injury prone. What does that mean exactly?

People want to point to the missed games and say 'that was because of his collarbone'. So what? They're missed games! The reason doesn't matter!

If you want to make comparisons to his contemporaries, do that. You'll see that he misses far more games than Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Rivers, or even Roethlisberger. It's the unfortunate truth of the situation.

We obviously hope that's no longer the case, but it doesn't change the previous facts.

its not just the media. I was looking on an nfc east rivals message board, I forget which one, and they were taking about Dak and that now it might be harder to beat the cowboys after Romo gets his yearly injury.

I agree. I think it's lining up for him to have as good of a season as he did in 2014, when he was arguably a league MVP candidate.

Romo is ONE tough SOB, Has played with a poor OL for most of his career and still made things happen. He may not have to run as much now (thanks to a great OL) but is still one of the best QBs playing....

If you believe that the procedure the doctors performed on his collarbone will make it so that it won't be able to break again then you do have to consider the collarbone as no longer an issue.
It would be like a QB missing a bunch of games due to concussions and then having him wear a true concussion proof helmet( if it existed)....that issue would no longer be an issue for him.

In any case, I will always be nervous anytime any QB we have gets hit. The human body isn't designed to take hits at the speed and impact that the NFL puts them through.

Yeah, I'm expecting several 18 of 24 200 yards type games this year, kinda like Aikman back in the day

Not to worry we have a guy fully capable of taking over this team if Romo goes down that's all I care about. The he more experience he gets the faster we get to the Superbowl.
