This is how injury prone Romo is

Good look on how the hit was kind of awkward.

That hit was super awk. All 32 qb's would be injured to some degree on that; at the very least they are definitely in a good amount of pain. Your back is not supposed to bend like that.

He doesn't.

The position he was in and the nature of the contact last night created a sudden lumbar hyperflexion, resulting in some pain (and angst from him and fans and coaches). The good news is this was temporary and did not immediately result in spasms. He'll probably be a bit sore today, but this incident is not a bad omen.

He may not take it daily but he definitely took one last year after the first Giants game leading to the Philly game in which he was ultimately injured.

This.

And Romo's comments:

"I mean obviously, we were being smart (about staying out),'' Romo said, via the Dallas Morning News "In a weird way, I feel good about the fact that was probably as tough of a hit I've taken on the back as I've had in the last five years. From that regard, I feel very lucky that it can hold up and I can keep going.''

"You can't put people in bubble wrap," Romo said. "You've got to play. It's football. You're going to get hit and things happen."

The quarterback added: "I don't think we'll have another one as far as, a hit that is timed that perfect on your back. That's as extreme of one as you don't want to have, I guess you could say.''

He's prone to injury. It can't be argued no matter how much you'd like to believe otherwise. My feeling is that this is his last hoorah. Dallas should've started making plans for the future. I don't understand why anyone would feel comfortable with a 37 year old qb with back issues that likes to hold onto the ball too long.

Must be weird for Giants fans not having that worry. Eli can llitterly get cut in half but he'll still get up and keep playing, dumb face aside
They have other worries I guess.
They have a pouty QB they don't really connect with, an arrogant mouthy WR who wears gloves that should be banned, and no running game.
I'll take our situation over theirs.

They have this guy named Dak Prescott that seems to be a plan for the future.
Just in case you haven't been watching.

You may be sold on a 4th round pick that's been here for a couple weeks and fresh off a DWI but I am not that naive. Pump the brakes on anointing this guy the heir to Romo until we see more. He could be Quincy Carter.

Didn't you say they should have done something to prepare for the future?
So what should they have done to get ready for the life after Romo?
They drafted a QB that so far is turning out to be the best QB in the draft. It has nothing to do with this anointing talk. He has shown enough to say he looks to have a future playing QB in this league.

So what should they have done?

Derek Carr was there. They should have put real resources into the position to be ready BEFORE tony is completely done. Maybe Dak is the guy and by some miracle he will be ready to play so soon in his career. But that will be complete luck and not the result of solid and competent planning by this front office. If this is Tony's last year then were going into next year with Dak and ???? Its not exactly a secure future. Which is my point.

I get your point...but most of this is luck anyway. I bet the Rams and eagles are not feeling awesome about putting so many resources into Goff and Wentz just to watch Prescott do what he is so far.
And all the teams (including us) that passes on Thomas Rawls last year.

While I agree that they got lucky with Prescott and they should have done something sooner that doesn't mean it would have worked. It also doesn't mean they didn't do anything. The other side of this is as hard as it is to imagine today, Romo could end up playing a few more years in which Derrick Carr could be pulling a Brock Osweiller on us.

I have to disagree. One is luck and one is careful planning and a driving effort to find the next guy. How can you not agree when the Eagles traded up twice to get their guy. Now surely there is some luck involved on the result. But one guy is trying really hard and the other guy was barely trying at all.

Here's a thought. Maybe the commentary on Romo's tendency to become injured isn't meant to apply to his whole career.

Maybe - big maybe - they're just talking about the last few years and the situation as it stands right now.

This is the new Roy Williams argument. When everyone knew he was hot garbage there were a couple of very vocal posters who just couldn't accept it so they spammed with all these stats that meant nothing. This went on and on until he was cut. Gonna have people denying that Romo is looking very fragile up until the day that an injury forces him to retire.

What I meant was the results seem to be so much luck.
Would giving away our entire draft this year have increased our success in finding Romos replacement? Many here wanted to trade away our 1st and 2nd and whatever else was needed to trade down to get Wentz. That would have cost us Zeke, Jaylon Smith, and Dak Prescott.

I think we agree that they didn't prioritize resources earlier on the QB position.
But it's also not fair to criticize them for not doing something to get ready for life after a Romo when Dak looks to have a legit future.
