Theres no way of knowing how Hill will turn out but it sounds like he was going to be the guy for awhile.

He said he’s talked to Marinelli every day for awhile which to me shows he was the target all along. He may have been a bit of a reach but when this staff finds someone with traits they care more about the player than value.

Worked well last year. Hope it does again.

By the way everyone hated the first pick last year.

“1 year starter”
“Only has played 7 man football before that”
“Ridley was available”
“No replacement for Dez”

Just relax. You don’t have to find a reason to hate every move the team makes.

People get way too emotional way too quickly. It's crazy!

It would be quite revealing (and hilariously entertaining) if the powers-that-be were to go back and find the largest post-pick thread from immediately after last year’s LVE selection...and then bump it, lock it and pin it for about a week.

Doing so would likely tone down some of the noise around this year’s pick at 58, lol!

I’ve said similar things that we should bring that thread back and expose people.

It would be epic.

I was one of those that hated the LVE pick, and you’re right this feels exactly the same. I think the character stuff is way overblown with this kid, he is definitely saying the right things at least. Athletically he is above average, his motor is non stop, so unless he is pulling the wool over the organization’s eyes and going to go David Irving on us I think we will be pleased with this pick.

You are correct, how any pick turns out will not be known for a while everyone should see how he plays before passing judgement, what disturbs me the most is that Jane Slater called the pick a day before the draft. Insider information made public wonder who is the leak.

Can we pin the Taco Charlton thread too where people said trust the franchise, Marinelli, etc. because they know what they are doing?

This is what happens with the draft. Why some of you are surprised by this and feel the need to lecture people on proper fandom is always chuckleworthy.

I wanted LVE before the draft last year and was happy with the pick.

I think this is almost identical to that one.... People hated that and for good reason. The guy has shown his true colours and shown his playing level....

C'mon, you're more intelligent than this.
Comparing LVE to this chump is apples to oranges and you know it.
LVE had stats, never had any character issues and started his senior year.
In contrast, this fool started only one game as a senior (because of character issues with the coaching staff - not injuries mind you) and his stats in a weak conference over the past 3 years were very subpar.
And those subpar stats are at the 3 tech where the DT is supposed to be making plays, not at the 1 tech where they're basically just a human wall.

Can we pin the Taco Charlton thread too?

We could pin them all for the last few years and then look at averages. What we will see is the people who stepped back, took a deep breath and relaxed ended up right about 80 percent of the time.

Taco reminds us though, it goes both ways. Please don't get me wrong I was disappointed as well but I'm chosing to look at averages over the last few years rather than lose my mind now.

Not surprised at all, wasn’t lecturing anyone on their fandom and would love to see both the LVE and Taco threads — strictly for the entertainment value.

However, I sincerely appreciate your lecture.

Marinelli knew what he was talking about with Tank and LVE. That's good enough for me.

He is a late 2nd round pick, not a first rounder. Big difference there. This was not a highly touted guy. Its another one of those, creepy Marinelli picks. Which have NOT been well received thus far. If you cant understand the hesitation then at least have enough common sense to see this was a risky pick when highly touted safeties had fallen into our lap.

I very much support, however, the commitment to the DL and OL's. Trenches.

Glad to see so many disappointed in our 2nd round pick. All is right in the world.

No team in the NFL gets them all right...for sure. The FO wins more than they lose the last few years for sure.

Since we already have seen positive results (contribution to a saved season, a playoff win, plus an all-pro selection) from our “2019 first-rounder”, it would seem that the FO is taking a conservative approach to the rest of this year’s draft.

Like many, I’m surprised that we haven’t taken a safety so far, but we have addressed depth concerns on both the D-line (likely suspensions) and the O-line (injury questions).

The majority on this forum seem to generally believe our FO has improved their roster management over the last 5-6 seasons. Could it be that they DO know more about team-building than we posters?

The difference was that LVE was super productive in college.

The hate on LVE was unwarranted. People didn’t like him because he played at Boise.

LVE was a freak athlete with freakish traits, size, and production.

Maybe Hill is a great athlete but he is raw and this could take a few years.
