I kind of agree with you. The kid has a great first step Ive noticed,...and he DOES impact some plays with it. He just never seems to be able to finish. Hopefully he learns.

Go watch the LawNation review of him from last year. It's on Youtube.. He breaks down a dozen or so of Hill's best plays including a number of TFLs.. It showed that the the kid did some good things last year.. Unfortunately the trash playing next to him was so stinky on so many plays that no matter what he did the defense got gashed. I think he can play.. We shall see..

No he wasn't. He was still on his asz too often and pushed to the 2nd level over and over. He stinks. He'll only play if injuries get really bad. I don't even know if he is hurt at this point. Just stash him until you figure it out?.

We shall see won't we?

When looking at adding a player before the deadline you first have to be realistic about it. It has to be a player that will come at a decent cost draft pick wise, a player who's salary isnt way out of line, a scheme fit that fills a need. It also makes sense that a player like that would have to come from a rebuilding team.
He would most likely also be a player that has maxed out ceiling wise, NOT an ascending player.

I have closely looked over every roster in the NFL the last couple of days and matched those players up with the salary and contract they are in along with their teams overall situation.

I believe the best realistic move we can make is with the team we played yesterday , the Patriots. That player is Kyle Van Noy. A 4th or hopefully 5th round pick should do it. He fills two needs for us. One as a pass rush specialist and the other as a rotational/ backup linebacker where we could use another piece anyway.

Van Noy has great size, a LONG player that our Def Co covets,...he is smart and been a great contributor on some championship teams, he is also a thumper at times. He can be kicked outside to left defensive end on passing downs with Gregory at right end. Inside you play Osa at one of the tackle spots and kick Lawrence inside at the other tackle. We do this with Lawrence already sometimes. This is a passing down only rotation. He can also back up at linebacker and be a part of the goal line/big package stuff.

As an added bonus I think he can be a great mentor and steadying influence for a young and hungry defense.

We are relatively deep at DE and LB. Weakest position group is DT.

Great post man, I always appreciate when someone puts some effort into a topic!

And I like this idea - I'm fine burning a 5th rounder for a good player.

Defense needs upgrades. Some of that will come from guys returning from injury but I agree that we should be going all in on this season
If we could add one piece it would be a run stuffer for me
I think Gregory, Dlaw, Armstrong and Golston can be fine at edge but we let the pats run way too many big runs

Specifically 1 tech.

Cowboys run stopping ranking was exposed yesterday.
The pats had some really big runs on us as others have. We’ve covered it up with the offense forcing teams to abandon run game but in a close game that’s trouble

I'm all for whatever player this front office wants to add. This is our best year to go all in for a SB. Take any and all upgrades and worry about the rest later.

Thats what I looked at first. Nothing out there. Nothing that either wouldnt cost fort Knox or be a trade that has no impact.

The guy I wanted most before the season started was Akiem Hicks. Can play either tackle position and dominate. That ship has sailed though....

Scoff all you want but Hill was coming on last year before he went down. He has elite first step quickness for a man his size and a great motor.. The kid just needed to learn.. which he was doing.. I am cautiously optimistic that he's going to come back and wreck shop for us..

Keep fighting the good fight. I won't lie. I'm just neutral on Hill. I don't know him well enough to back your claim or argue against it so I will just say, keep up the good fight. I had to tell guys like this all the time to laugh all they want about Gregory. I was a firm believer that he could change our defense. It took way longer then I expected but he is proving that he can beat offensive lineman. A lot of posters here and Cowboy haters and even some fans like to just hate every decision and player we draft. It's odd to me. Like why not root for them? I don't know a lot about Hill personally, but I'm gonna side with your view of him and hope you are right.

IMO, Van Noy would have to come in to be a starter beside Parsons at LB to justify a trade. Kyle Van is owed $6M this year and $6.8M for 2022.

What would be your thinking for next year? Teagarden good who you’re keeping of Lawrence, Gregory, and Van Noy?

Im keeping Gregory for sure and probably Lawrence too depending on how he plays the rest of the year. I may even keep Van Noy as well,....there is an out in his current contract after this season. Maybe see how that can be used.

I asked because I think it would be better to keep Gregory and Van Noy and it would make it easier to get out of Lawrence’s contract. No way they could keep all three but Gregory and Van Noy would be a lot cheaper than Lawrence.

Yep. I think this is a move that can pay big dividends down the road without having to give up the farm.

Drafted by the Lions as I recall where they misused him of course...yeah, he's real solid Hayseed. Nice post, but dunno how aggressive front office will be. LVE looked bad yesterday. Not Jaylon Smith bad but.....bad.
