Late in the fourth quarter cowboys up by six . fourth and five for first down. Maybe six I truly don’t recall. Well I do recall his watching McCarthy on the sidelines and I know he wanted to go for it. We kick a field goal. If Prescott was in there do you think McCarthy kicks that field goal. I don’t.

You need to take the points there, especially off a turnover on the road against the Champs.

Yes, we kick the field goal.

We should have ran the ball there instead of going empty sets twice on that series. If they had no confidence in Rush there, they would not have called that set once. Let alone twice.

Don't remember this 4th quarter scenario. But remember last games 1st quarter scenario.

McCarthy kicked the field goal because the Rams did nothing on offense. I don’t think having Dak out there changes his thought process.
He’s never coached that way before. Unless this is the new and improved Mike? No way they don’t let Dak go for that.

Didn't have anything to do with Rush. It was rather the new, well considered, no nonsense play calling they have been showing all season long. They knew they'd make it a two score game by taking the safe exit and they knew the D and O were good enough to make it to the finish line.

Not taking anything away from either QB here. Just saying that the "Madden" days seem to be over with these coaches. Good.

The optimal call is the choice that gives the team the best chance to win with the information available at the moment the decision is made. MM has really improved in making smart decisions. His teams record proves it!

Although I agree, I think a lot of that is extreme confidence in the D also. No need to gamble regardless of QB when the D is smothering them.
I’m not gonna argue it was the right or wrong call. I get both sides. But I do think if Dak is there they go for it. I wasn’t comfortable with that lead. Maybe I should’ve been. It was a Tutu Atwell or Kupp big play away from being close.

The score was 10 to 19 with under 5-minutes left, no you kick the filed goal to to go up by two touchdowns needed to loss. It had nothing to do the QB
Based on what I’ve seen from Mike these past few years? He goes for it. If y’all want to argue that Mike has changed? Fair enough. Maybe he has.

That's right. Making good sound decisions to put the team in the most favorable place. Going for it would serve no purpose...most especially if you don;t make it. Then this OP would be complaining about THAT.

No FG is guaranteed. But Maher is kicking well, and it makes it two TD game. The right call no matter what.

Not sure why the OP is doing this.

It appears he has changed? At least against teams like the Rams in their current state. And all good coaching staffs have to think on their feet…quickly. And every in-game situation is different.
