Merriman played really great ("Lights Out!") during his 4 game suspension.

Depends on how long ago he stopped taking roids- it usually will take a few months to wear off. Realistically if he is going to lose strength and size it will be gradual. BUT by the first week in Febuary there should be definite signs of weakness and loss of size. Good timing, what?
ANd after watching today he is a loss in pass coverage and he does miss too many tackles on non QB's. Overall Ware is the better player.

exactamundo...

I will take a complete OLB over a sack artist who is a liability in the other phases of the game on top of getting an illegal and unatural edge over the rest of the players anyday and so will Parcells who knows something about that position.

Ths is all about Ware, not Merriman. Had we drafted a CB at 11, Merriman would cease to be a topic of discussion--provided that CB wasn't a total turd.

He is bad in coverage and misses quite a few takles..he is a one trick pony sack artist, far from a complete OLB.

and a reponse to the "giving roids too much credit" well aparently so does every sporting regulatory body.

He also had two forced fumbles today, so it's like a trick and a half.

But you just don't get it - he could of been a Cowboy.

He could of played in Dallas.

We must never forget-

HE COULD OF BEEN A COWBOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate Merriman as much as the next person, and I was begging that his last sack were ruled incomplete becuse he got the sack, FF, and FR on the play. He is playing pretty unbelievable football. Over 12 sacks after missing 4 freakin games!?!!? That is lights out~

And he missed several tackles and he is not that good at Pass Defense. I would take Ware over him right now.

those 4 tackles he had today were simply........outstanding.

How about 2 sacks, 2 FF, and a fumble recovery. Gimme a break. If you can't see he's playing well, you are a blind homer.

Personally, I love Ware, but I still think we had a chance to take the best sack artist in the last decade, & we blew it. I don't care what BP says about trying to make Ware a "complete" player, LT became the greatest OLB in history by mainly getting to the QB. We don't have a great pass rush, and we could have. Ware was hired to get to the QB, & he isn't doing the job half as good as Merriman.

:hammer:

I love the completeness (Is this a word?) of D Ware, but SM does best what we really need, which is get to the QB.

my unbiased opinion on merriman from watching the game today is that he rushes the quarterback on basically every down, no wonder he has so many sacks

If all BP wanted ware to do was rush the passer that is what they would be doing with him. BP wants him to be a complete player and he is- much more complete then Merriman.

I think Ware could do it, he just needs to be really pissed off to do it. Someone needs to call his mom names or something, get him jacked up and let some emotions play into it.

Yeah, I mean some guy on an internet forum knows so much more about what the Dallas Cowboys defense needs than a 2 time superbowl champion NFL coach who is thought by some to be one of the formost experts in the 3-4 and especially linebacker talent.

dont compare LT to anyone because the NFL game is vastly different now with rules that favor the offense and scoring. OLBs back in tha day were not known for their pass coverage ability but they HAVE to be now.
