Regarding the importance of having a good GM:
The SF 49ers showed us and the world that they are capable of building a great team. And this current niners juggernaut is the work of GM John Lynch who has been in SF since 2017. Lynch has built a deep, talented and complimentary roster.

Look at what Lynch has accomplished since he was hired in 2017:
  • Hired Kyle Shanahan as head coach.
  • Drafted cornerstones Nick Bosa, George Kittle, Fred Warner, Deebo Samuel, Dre Greenlaw and Brock Purdy.
  • Acquired star LT Trent Williams in a trade with Washington in 2020.
  • Under Lynch in the last 6 seasons, the niners are 6-3 in the playoffs. (Cowboys have won 4 playoff games in 23 seasons)
  • Playoff accomplishments include playing in 3 NFC championships and a SB. They have accomplished that with two different starting QBs, one who was the last draft pick in 2022.
Here’s the lesson: A great team is not just a collection of talent. It is built with a vision starting at the top. Jerry’s vision is to be “relevant”. Lynch’s vision is to win a championship. Because if Lynch can’t accomplish that within a certain numbers of years, he’s gone.

not likely to happen because we dont make playoffs...dont worry about SF this year,,,yes undersized is why everyone getting hurt too....and what defense can handle being out there twice as long as offense?...20 something minutes of offense....no team can win
Not undersized, under talented. Our size is fine.

The niners were more physical at every single position I saw last night.
It was clear to me that was their strategy. Be as physical as possible on every play as if they knew Dallas will fold. I was a little surprise how unphysical our OL was against them.

Not to be missed, we took LVE in the 1st in the same draft SF took Warner in the 3rd.

That's what talent does.

And when I said it, this board put me in BOARD JAIL because I would not buy into past Cowboys fools gold. Told to find a new team. Why am I here. ETC. And I will go out to say this team might not even make the playoffs. Injuries are mounting up and a coach that doesn't know how to use his personnel
Don’t take the jabs personally. I don’t. This board wouldn’t exist if everyone just came to report good news and shake their Pom poms.

The core problem has 5 letters: J-O-N-E-S. They are really good at making money. That’s it. They aren’t good at building championship rosters. Sure the QB is not great, the defense is undersized, we have an outdated offense, and a soft culture. But those problems were all caused by the real problem: The top of this organization.

This team needs a rebuild starting at the GM position. Having the same two guys making all the big decisions about this hasn’t worked for so long now just changing or adding to the player mix or changing HCs isn’t going to fix the core problem.
Jerry Jones has hired a good player evaluator for the draft in Will McClay. Without McClay, this organization is a perennial 6-8 win team.

In fact, in my estimation here are the biggest problems and how to fix them:
  • (Before I hear from everyone, I already recognize this won’t happen) Jerry needs to hire a real GM. The Jones FO has a fundamental very bad problem- they don’t realize THEY are the problem. They are surrounded by people that tell them what they want to hear. Until that changes, we will continue this nearly 3 decade cycle. They think they are really good and they aren’t. (Except how to make money) They think waaaaaaaay too highly of their own talent. Which is deadly in a league where other teams are led by men who‘s job depends on their success.
  • It’s time to plan for a new QB- easier said than done, but this organization never seems to get serious about drafting a QB. Look at SF. They had just drafted their “franchise” QB in Trey Lance two years ago and still drafted Brock Purdy in round 7 and got lucky anyway. That never happens here because they don’t even try.
  • This defense is undersized and cannot impose its will without a big lead. Parsons is a great talent but I’m not convinced this team knows how to use him properly. They can’t stop the run when they have to. If Parsons is neutralized, the defense is pedestrian.
  • This offense is outdated and takes few chances- This isn’t the 90s or early 2000s. The “West Coast Offense” is not used much anymore because defenses have figured out how to stop it. It is in essence a very conservative offense that without any real deep threats is anemic.
This embarrassing loss could be used for good if the leaders of this org would allow it. (They won’t)

The rest of this season they should be way more aggressive, continue churning the roster and send the message that NO ONE is guaranteed anything. They won’t do that, but they should.
Instead of using a "like," I wish I could hit the "Standing applause" button...

Yeah, I'll never forget that Silver Lining area we created on the old boards. No negative posting allowed. After a few days of happy posting, complete ghost town.

Well said.
And if we all stopped caring about the silly “I was right about _____” or stopped letting someone get your goat because they disagree with an opinion, this place would be even better. The #1 reason this forum is enjoyable for me starts with the diversity of opinions.

I have learned a lot from lots of people on this forum. (Kevin you are one of the best) This place automatically becomes more fun when we drop the need to always be “right”.

As have I. I pay attention to what almost everyone says, as there are often nuggets to glean even from the least knowledgeable posters.

The most boring part of the forum, to me, is the incessant gabbling about other posters.

Gotta disagree here. For example, there is a loon in another thread who just stated that Jerry overruled Jimmy and forced him to draft emmitt smith. I don’t think there is anything to glean from that guy. Lol

"Almost", my dear fellow poster, "almost". There are a few posters that I simply pass over.

Ya still gotta have faith Gorico. Gonna miss your plats dude. It's true the offense was very offensive against the 49'ers. Team could catch lightning in a bottle and get hot at the right time ya just never know.

There's also the fact that having a happy posts only area of a Cowboys forum after the 1990s is an attempt to live in fantasy land. No matter how happy you force everyone to pretend to be it will still not reflect reality. People will quickly realize they are living a lie, and nope out.

I'm gonna cut to the chase here.
I hope Spaulding becomes a great GM/Owner.
Not sure if he's even out of high school yet.
