I'm not kidding and I'm not joking. This kid is the best RB in the draft, he will be a steal for someone, I believe he will be a Cowboy, if we trade Julius.
i don't even think that kid is faster than barber.

I won't go over it all, but just look what he did in the losses to USC and U of M, and the near losses to MSU and UCLA. Those stats are padded against Stanford, Army, and Air Force, and a Purdue defense that wasn't very impressive either.
Uh...his team got down big early in the games against both USC and Michigan, so they abandoned the run.

Wow, I am suprised JSN is not on this thread- then I realized that you had not mentioned the backs name or school. Darius is a good solid back. But nothing special. He will give all he has on every play and will not make mistakes. Actually did quite well this year considering the O line stank it up.

I like him alot and would consider him in the 3rd/4th. His pass catching is the biggest draw for me, but he also was always in the mix when ND needed some big plays.

I don't know if Walker's going to be the best back out of this draft but before you call someone insane for saying he will be, remember, only a crazy person would have thought that Jones-Drew would have turned out to be the best back in last year's draft or someone must have been nuts to like Frank Gore over the three backs that went top five the year before.

Walker has a leg up on most backs because he's shown that he can mentally handle a very complex NFL style offense thanks to Charlie Weis.

There's a lot more to be a successful NFL running back than just being able to run with the football.

Jones-Drew probably won't be the best back in his year's draft. He may have put up the best stats in his rookie season, but Watkins put up the best stats of any safety during his rookie season and there's no one claiming he's the best safety of his class. Beyond that MJD was drafted in the 2nd round because of his height. I remember hearing people like Gil Brandt claim that if he were an inch or so taller he'd be a top 10 pick.

Frank Gore was drafted low because of his injuries. He was always a gamble. Everyone knew he was an elite back in college before he was injured -- it was just a question of whether he could come back from those injuries. Because the gamble paid off doesn't mean he should have been drafted higher.

Neither of these scenarios really apply to Walker. He's just a tad too slow to be highly competitive. And before anyone compares his 40 times to other backs that have succeeded, it's not about his 40 times. It's about his game speed. Anyone can watch the games and see that he's slow on the field.

So who are the RB's after Petersen and Lynch? They seem to be the top two, but who follows them? Bush? Pittman? Irons? How many others would rate ahead of Walker? I liked Walker, but he seemed to me as though he was very much like MB3 only slower.

No it isn't. A comment like that, and most other posters just automatically dismiss this guy's credibility.

Honestly, I don't think Jones is much better than Walker will be.

there's a thing called pro-potential, Walker is just too slow through the hole, won't be out-running many people, and isn't very big

bad combination

Name me one college player that doesn't have "padded stats" throughout the season.

That actually sounds a lot like Emmitt's scouting report before he went pro.

But Walker didn't accomplish anything near what Emmitt accomplished in college.

I wasn't referring to that specifically, I was referring to it in general. Too slow/too small.

Emmitt fell because of a slow 40 time. everyone except Dallas ignored what he did on the field. But then that was Jimmy and he KNEW Emmitt. Though even Jimmy was looking around at other backs.

Jimmy wasn't looking at other backs, he wanted to trade up to draft James Francis (a LB).

No doubt. Emmitt could get through the hole when he needed to.

it might "sound" like it, but he definitely doesnt LOOK like it

I dont care what Emmitt's timed speed was, the guy broke long run after long run at Florida, and then did the same thing in Dallas...he broke tackles and had he great explosion into and out of the holes, something Walker lacks
