Maybe, but, with his ego, he also wants to feel like he's doing a good job. Hence part of his anger. The way he's reacting to the questions about his job performance tells me he's insecure. I can see his frustration and that it bothers him when his abilities are questioned. So, maybe if we as a fanbase can really start coming together and criticising him every chance we get, maybe it will affect him.
Of course JJ is insecure — which is why he fired Jimmy Johnson and why he does press conferences!!!

Right, and we can use that insecurity against him. But, to do that, we need to be united as a fanbase. We need to take the hard pills to swallow as a fanbase and see the reality of the Cowboys for what they are ATM. When we see that, then we can learn how to use Jerry's insecurities against him.

I mean, I'm always going to be a diehard fan, but I also don't live in Dallas. Jerry should be glad about that because I'd be very vocal about him running the team.
I use to be a diehard fan too. 40 years worth. FINALLY I had enough. Just like my name. But things started boiling in those Romo years. And I became so disgusted this organization wouldn't even attempt to trade Romo and 3 #1s for the top spot to draft Andrew Luck. Was mad they didn't trade up for Aaron Donald was disgusted they passed on Chris Jones to take that gimpy LB. Annoyed they passed on TJ Watt. Thought they might of found something in Dak but halfway through his first year I could tell he was fools gold and just good enough to prevent the Cowboys from acquiring top pedigree at the QB position. I didn't want Dak to get his first big contract and his second contract I knew was just plain stupidity. I thank him for breaking the chains to my fanhood. But I hate him and Jerry and hope they continually lose. You don't realize how obsessed you become as a fan and to be honest I really enjoy football weekends so much more not caring what happens with Dallas. I do enjoy coming on this forum and rubbing some noses in it too.

What we do or don’t do, buy or don’t buy, has zero impact on the quality of the roster. Jerry wants to win. To think otherwise is illogical. He’s got an ego the size of Texas, and he has experienced the adulation of bringing 3 SBs to the Cowboys and being a centerpiece of everything NFL. Of course he wants to win a Super Bowl; that would only bring him more adulation and MONEY. The team’s value would increase.

The problem is he doesn’t know how to do it and has reached an age where he can’t even pretend any longer.

I have said the same thing. He certainly does want to to win. but it has to be his way. and he cant figure out the new cap era. cant just buy what he want like everything else.

While the early years for the Saints were bad, their success since 2006 overshadows anything the Cowboys have done.
So?

Are you saying that only the last 18 years count? That all of the awful years the Saints had are meaningless? Or that only people born since 1967 count as fans?

You judge teams by their entire history, not just cherry-picked years. There are plenty of Saints fans, many that I know personally, who have followed the team since they were founded. And they were Saints fans since inception and are still fans.

You missed the point entirely...

Actually, I feel the exact opposite. It's time to cut ties with the America's team BS and stand on our own. The Dallas Cowboys and their fans are no better or no worse. Get over the hype and fake privilege.

Losing badly will bring about change. That is where we are headed. We are no longer going to be "around the rim", which is where Jerry sets the bar. Look, if every single fan in DFW and around the country agreed to stay away from the Death Star for one week...agreed not to watch the game from home for one week in a show of unity to call for change, I'd do it. For one week.

I know this sounds ridiculous, especially since we are fans. Not to mention I seldom give credence to anything SAS says. However, he said something that made me think that was actually partly right. He stated that we are partly at fault for this season for putting up with this. And you know what? He's partly right. This season is partly on us fans (including me). But not in the way you might think. Let me explain.

What division do we play in? The NFC East, right? Do we not share a division with Philly and the Giants? Does anyone here think that the way the Joneses have run the team the last 29 years would be acceptable in Philadelphia or New York? Of course not! The teams know full well in Philly and New York that they had better perform, or the fans will make their experience hard. Does anyone here think that if Jerry owned either of them that the fans would be as passive as we have been with him and his family? Does anyone think they would accept the unacceptable effort from him this offseason? Does anyone think they would accept the gaslighting from him? If he owned the Giants, what do you think New York media would do to him? What do you think New York Fans would do to him? He wouldn't be allowed to just sit on his laurels. He wouldn't be allowed to just sit back and collect the money he does.

Maybe it's time we let certain aspects of our division rivals rub off on us. There is one Jerry Jones. There are millions of us. The former players like Irvin and Spears have been getting louder about the unacceptable play of late. Maybe it's time we show passion too. Maybe it's time we have an honest look at our team and understand we are at least 3 years (with a proper rebuild) away from even being close to competitive. Maybe it's time we become more passionate at Jerry about our displeasure. I'm not talking about not going to games and such. I'm talking about, if we go to games, maybe start treating the players, coaches, and ownership the way our division rivals treat their players, owners, etc. Maybe it's up to us, at this point, to demand more. Maybe it's up to us to show our passion to the Cowboys and say that this season is unacceptable. Maybe it's time we tell them and show them that they better not have this level of inactivity again. Jerry may have billions of dollars, but all that money in the world can't silence our fanbase. He may be taking the history of the team and dragging us to levels we don't want, but he should not take our passion away.

I've been criticised at times for being angry and not letting my anger consume me. I'm telling you all that my frustration and all that is BECAUSE I have passion for this team. Rather than just saying, "Woe is us" and such, maybe it's time we rekindle our passion in a different way.

Maybe it's time we all unite together to become a joined fan base demanding better. Demanding more from Jerry. Demanding championships. Maybe it's time we learn how to show the passion for our team that our division rivals have. Maybe, instead of saying we're going all the way, we demand better. Maybe we show our displeasure when Jerry is running the show in an unacceptable way.

I love the Cowboys. I always have, and I always will. I dream of the day that I can see us win a SB and not have been in preschool for it. I dream of the day that I see the Cowboys win one finally. I think we all do. It angers me so much to see us like this when I think we knew where the weaknesses were. Yet, it was allowed to fester.

As for Jerry, before, he could do what he wanted because we would just accept it and turn our passion elsewhere. Maybe it's time we understand something. Maybe it's time we understand this fact. Jerry runs the team and has billions of dollars. But, there are millions of us around the world. Without us, his team can't function. He might enjoy money, but, if we started imitating our division rivals at times and really turned our passion the way they do. If we really start showing that we are a passionate fanbase that demands better, who knows? Maybe he starts to realise that he has to change the way he operates.

To do this, instead of our infighting among us fans, let's be united. Let's come together as a fan base, and let's make it clear that what we are seeing being done to our beloved Cowboys is unacceptable. Make it clear we will not tolerate this anymore. We demand championships. We demand excellence. We demand effort. We demand that Jerry builds a team that can compete, and we will not let up on him in the media, in our conversations, and at the stadiums, until he gets teams that can compete. What's he going to do? Ban us from the stadium because we as fans are making life too uncomfortable for him? We have more power as fans than we think.
 Join the walk out that is planned for the Thanksgiving game. During the halftime show....when the lights go out....and they set up the stage....when the lights come back on....would be epic if the stadium was empty. Anyway....that's the word on the street.

I can't really go to games as I live in Cleveland. But if I could and if I did, I'd be making it clear that I want better. I want the Cowboys in the super bowl.
I feel your frustration. I know you are a younger fan, and when I was younger it was difficult to harness the passion I felt about this team. I would get angry over losses, be depressed, let it ruin my week.

As I've gotten older, and my health has changed some, I've realized that as much as I love the Cowboys, it's still just a game and I don't need to let a game affect me so adversely. It's my team, but it's fate rests in the hands of the megalomaniac who bought it. What a group of fans does to try to alter that fate isn't really likely to make a difference.

What I've learned to do with age is take a step back at times. It doesn't mean I love my team any less; I just handle it differently. For example, I generally record games now and find out the score before I watch them. That way I know what to expect and it doesn't hurt my heart near as much as it used to. Even if the team lost, I would still watch the game to see why, but it didn't hurt as much because I knew the outcome. Last year to an extent and this year to a greater extent, I haven't gone back and watched all the games. I haven't watched the Detroit game at all and don't plan to.

That's something I can control. I can't control how Jerry runs the team, but I could let it drive me crazy. I choose not to do that. I'm not telling you how to fan, just sharing with you as an older fan things that have helped me cope.

There are too many fashion fans, and as long as those fans keep spending, die hards sounding off won't be heard.
Well the thing is we don't get to tell fans how to fan. If fanning benefits and enables Jerry....well okay then.

There is another, dark...option. If you despise the team, fans, owner...that encompasses everything. So only another team is viable.

I don't take it lightly either. After all these years of course we aren't canoe jumpers/ But....well...

I haven't been to a game since 2006. I don't buy any swag. I stream the games even though I can get them locally because I don't want Jerry to get even one penny. I'm trying to do my part.
Me too! I will not give Jethro and his family one more penny in any way. Mediocre product for 30 years!!
