Great during the season, but "one and done" in the playoffs. What a disgrace!!!

any bullet you can make fit, i suppose.
emotional insurance. makes people say a lot of crazy talk. in the end we lost. we knew going in we had some holes to fill and we hoped players like julius for 2 jones would have done more.
garrett went from genious to being fired.
wade's style sucks all over again.
but like TO said, all across the board this is what the team did.
new head coach, new OC, new DC...we started off too good and it gave many fans a high horse to fall off of. maybe it did for the team also.
i have every faith in romo and this team to keep going and continue to improve. we lack balance and our OL needs more love to be truly dominate. a few tweaks and some rational (ie, not to be had any time soon by any of us) thought and we'll see what we need to do.
the year, however, is not a failure. i had too much fun on this ride to blow it all away in a moment of disappointment. this team still has a lot to prove and do and they will.
for some it's all or nothing. A playoff win would make it great year, but it was not to be.iceberg;1900434 said:it's easy (now with the internet WAY TOO EASY) for those who never even get on the bench much less the field to call those a disgrace.
plenty of other teams out there. not many still playing but the packers wagon may have a seat left. i'll stick it out there. good times and bad.

Failure is being the top seed and losing in your first playoff game to a team you already beat twice in the regular season. The Cowboys took all the positive things that were accomplished in the regular season, dropped them in the toilet, took a colossal dump on them, and flushed them down the drain.
Call me crazy but five of those teams won the Super Bowl the next year.kingwhicker;1900452 said:This ranks up there with the biggest failures in NFL history: 1976 Cowboys, 1987 49ers, 1996 Broncos, 1997 Chiefs, 1998 Vikings, 2001 Steelers, 2004 Steelers, 2005 Colts.

iceberg;1900484 said:you can't pick the bad things that happen to you or when. only how you deal with it. it's not a failure to not succeed all the time - even in optimal conditions. it will only be a failure if the team doesn't get back up and do better next year.

I know - I know - I hear ya - and I agree.
wick;1900519 said:Why would you call it a failure next year if we merely duplicate this season? Wouldn't you just say it's only a failure if we don't do better in 2009?
MichaelWinicki;1900566 said:Like I said in my other post Sarge, I could taken getting beat by the Pats in the SB.
But to do "one & done"?
No, I'm not letting this team off that easy.
I'm not going to go "joefan" and proclaim this a successful season, because ultimately it failed to measure up. Again, we as Cowboy fans were teased by "potential" and our heroes ended up taking the pipe.

was the saints last season considered a failure? of course not because they outplayed expectations.
as for the cowboys, it is a gigantic failure because they were seen as super bowl contenders from the outset.
