Jerry chose MM. Setting up MM to fail would also be setting himself up to fail because he chose MM. Jerry ain't purposely setting himself up to fail, no way, no how. Jerry would look better if he simply fired MM and hired SP.

Except for Dak getting hurt again. A more quieter off season than we normally have with free agency. Not really trying to replace the talent that we lost. I truly believe it was the plan all along for McCarthy to fail to give the front office a legitimate reason to fire him which opens the door for them to bring in Payton publicly because I believe there is already a secret agreement in place between he and Jerry. Look for Moore to be gone as well as the rest of the coaching staff with possibly Quinn being retained providing he don't get a HC gig somewhere so Payton can bring in his own staff.
Ron!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Manalive, we have missed you!!! Glad to see you around!!!!!

Everything in the preseason screamed that this is a tank season. Jerry wants to dump EZ and some others, maybe even Dak, but needs an excuse to do so.

By design to be cheap.

Tyler Smith was supposed to replace Williams.

Steele saved them money at RT.

They drafted Williams in the 2nd to help replace Gregory post fiasco.

They brought in Washington on the cheap and drafted Tolbert after Wilson departed.

They thought Lamb was ready...but Cooper is an 'elite' route runner and his contract was a bargain in terms of those being signed now.
Why break up Cooper, Lamb, and Gallup, especially when you were willing to pay an unreliable & underwhelming guy like Gregory?

Lol! It’s Jerry’s team, he can do what he wants. He doesn’t have to implement a conspiracy to fire the Coach. It’s his perogative do do so whenever he damm well pleases. They released some of their big contracts because they have to work out Dak’s enormous cap hit and be able to resign Diggs and Micah who are going to be looking for massive extensions over the next 2 seasons. Payton is still under contract with the Saints!

They designed Coopers contract so they could walk away after 2 seasons. That was always the plan. They stuck to that plan despite the fact that Lamb showed he wasn’t ready last year!

I can't wait to see the reaction if Payton comes here though. A guy most here enthusiastically said goodbye to when he left and someone who returns not even slightly more successful than the head coach we have now.
I dont care what Payton has won or hasnt won.

The hallowed Parcells was a decent kick away from having just one like many others.

He is the ONLY guy I see that has a REMOTE chance of wrestling ANY control away from this ridiculous family any time soon because of the relationship.

And MM just went along with it b/c he's a football noob desperate for a job? If they were intentionally tanking, why would MM just stand there and take it? He could simply resign with dignity and get a job somewhere else.

I'm afraid you give the Jones boys too much credit for having the intelligence to execute a plan. Nope. They really thought they had something this year. They thought CD could step in for Amari and assume that role. They thought they could simply draft replacements for the veterans they lost. Sam Williams for Gregory. Tolbert for Amari and Wilson. They are really that dumb. You think its easy going 26 years running the cowboys with all the money in the world to hire the best, and manage not even a conference title game appearance? I'd wager just about any one of us could do better b/c at some point we would figure out that we needed smarter people than us running the show. The jones boys think they are smartest guys in every room. They still haven't figured it out.

You actually think Payton would want to come here?

My great fear is the Cowboys will lost 14 games this year and have a top 5 pick, but Jerry will give it to the Saints for the right to talk to Sean Payton.

I really hope that doesn't happen. A good HC would want to dump a lot of the Cowboys overrated players which means a couple of years of mediocrity while they reload.
