I really believe the way this team is setup and plays that they need a player like Sproles or Bush a player that can create match up problems out of the backfield and that can take it to the house anytime they touch the ball. I really believe that's what Romo has been missing. I look at Romo and Brees and Stafford as very similar players and you can see the difference these 2 players make for them.

Thoughts?

Isn't that way we drafted Felix Jones?

I think he was talking about a fast player with talent.

I realize that but Dunbar is the only "type" of player on the roster. I also know he is a lesser talent to those other two. My point was....this team would not know how to use any of them.

I don't know how you can say that since we don't have a player like them. I think you're just frustrated.

But I tip my hat to you for being the only person in the history of mankind, past, present and future, who will ever use "Sproles, Bush, Dunbar" in a sentence.

As it has been mentioned, to utilize a player like that takes creativity to get them the ball in space. One of the most potent plays to get those type players the ball in space is the screen pass, which in all honesty has never been a strength with JG as OC or HC. We run some WR screens from time to time, but under JG this team has never been able to effectively employ the screen pass to RB's. Having players like that requires creativity to maximize their skills, which JG and Callahan sorely lack.

must get to the root of the problem before all else.

imo this team needs a completely new offensive philosophy and scheme (aka new off. coordinator)

For whatever reason Garret seems to really prefer screen passes to the WRs. He loves running the Smoke Screen.

I think one way to really upgrade the speed is to find a new starting RB and I don't mean Lance Dunbar either. A real one.

Nothing against Murray. Sooner Pride, but he's s l o w. It'd be nice to have a home run hitter back there.

So basically this teams needs to have every conceivable weapon at every position? It's not enough to have a dominant WR, HoF TE, capable back and a couple young yet rarely utilized WRs?

This team needs to play the best players and develop a system that best fits THEIR abilities.

This team needs to quit cherry picking bits and pieces from around the league to try and develop some unstoppable fruit salad.

That's not what anyone is saying. What we are saying is this team need speed and someone we can create match up problems with. Like SD does with Woodhead and Bush in Detroit, Sproles in NO and what the steelers had with Rainey. Those guys are QB friendly and they create problems because they are a threat in the run game and pass game and when you run a a lot of shot gun and spread sets these guys are a fit. I think a lot of people have been saying this for awhile. It would open up the top of the defense for the HOF TE and and dynamic WR. So you can keep the fruit salad I want players who create match up problems.

I'm sorry but when you have weapons like Demarco, Dez, Miles and Witten...you shouldn't need a Sproles type. You have Dez Bryant for goodness sakes.

Murray is not a speed back and he does not make the defense shift and they rarely have to worry about him going to the house and that's why they play us the way they do. They are not afraid if Murray no safety in the box sorry it's just the way it is

I don't see Danny Woodhead as anything close to Sproles.

When Sproles has the ball you can tell he's on the next level in terms of quickness and speed.

Woodhead appears to be more of a smart guy who extracts every last bit of ability that he has. He also has someone who knows what mismatches he can create and actually utilizes him. He didn't beat Bruce Carter on the wheel route because he was so fast. He beat Bruce because he sold the route into the flat to the point where Carter kind of pulled up. Then Woodhead turned it up and Bruce was left out of position.

This team has players who create mismatches. There aren't many DBs in the league (if any at all) who can guard Dez Bryant. Gavin Escobar was supposed to be a Redzone nightmare for defenses. I don't think he was even on the field when Williams fumbled. How is that possible? You actually spend resources to acquire players with unique skill sets and then you don't even use them in situations where they are most likely to pay dividends. That's just ridiculous.

I have said before that Cole Beasley can get open off the line quicker than any of the other WRs on the team. I don't think he was in there either.

This team has plenty of players already. What they don't have is someone who knows how to get the most out of what they have. That's why Dallas has been an average scoring team year after year. This offense doesn't utilize specific traits. Martellus Bennett probably had fewer Redzone looks in his 4 years in Dallas than he had in just his 1 season in New York.

Having Darren Sproles wouldn't make a bit of difference if the team can't figure out how to create opportunities for him.
