This Was A Huge Loss For Garrett

Wins dont matter???

To say Garrett's job does not depend on the team's record is just not true in my opinion. Jerry said that he needed to see "tangible success" and to me that means wins.

You telling me that as long as the team plays hard and doesnt quit, that it doesnt matter if Garrett wins any games??? You telling me that Garrett can post a 3-5 record and as long as the team didnt get blown out that Garrett is a lock???

I dont see that, I really dont. There is no way in hell that Jerry can sell Garrett as the full time HC if he has a losing record during his interium period. I just dont see how Jerry can sell that, but we shall see.

I think wins are not the end all with Romo out. That is just my personal opinion but we are a bit hamstrung with Romo out and Jerry knows that.

I loved the way that team fought on Thursday. Roy screwed up but the D fought hard all game. Even the best Defenses give up drives at the end of games like we did. I won't blame them for that.

It was a shame for one persons gaffe to cost the team that win, I was sick!

Garrett on the other hand has done a great job with the mentality of this team in three weeks!

I do not get this change in peoples expectations ! No one expected Dallas to win and that we lose now Garret is toast because they almost won

I mean they are playing better than they have all year yet even if we where 7-2 going into this game it would have been a tough one to win.

Yet they where down almost pulled out a win and now Garret lost his chance at a Head coaching Gig is :lmao2:.

Please this team will have to have some tweaks over the offseason we where not making the playoffs we would have had to have an 8 game winning streak with a team that started 1-7 and has some holes that we have no way to plug up and at the same time changing up the defense from what has been run for the last 3 years to a different version of it under coach P.

Fans are funny sometimes

While I can see why people would be upset about the Saints loss (I was) I can't figure out why people scream DOOM afterwards.

The Cowboys have some problems. They make several mistakes during a game, but that is correctable. What everyone should be thrilled about is the fact that the effort has returned. I am damn excited to see what the Cowboys are doing. If they correct the boneheaded mistakes, they are a damn good football team. Maybe they aren't going to the playoffs this season, but I'm excited to finally see Wade gone and see the team responding by changing the mentality they've been displaying.

Good riddance of Wade Phillips and the re-emergence of the Cowboys having real football players again. Newman is getting older and isn't quite the player he was, but the team is playing better as a unit and I'm damn happy about that.

It's hard to read these forums when doomsayers come-out when there is no reason real to doomsay. :bang2:

In all likelihood, Garrett is going to have to post 4-4 or 5-3 record to keep his job. Anything less is just going to be a hard sell to the fans.

He is currently 2-1 and with the Colts next week, probably 2-2.

So, assuming we lose to the Colts, Garrett could be looking at needing to win 3 of his last 4 games to finsih his interium period with a winning record.

Roy Williams just costed Garrett a very, very, very valuable win today that he really, really, really needed. If we lose to the Colts and then probably lose to Philly as well, Garrett may come up 1 win short of having a winning record.

Roy Williams might have costed Garrett his job today (depending on how we finish the season). Bottom line is that if Garrett does not have a winning record as an interium HC, he is not going to be given an extension on the spot. He may still get the job, but there will be an extensive interview process. I personally like Garrett and I hope he gets the job, but I also realize that winning is the bottom line and if Garrett is 4-4 or worse, it is going to be a hard sell to the fans.

Roy Williams cost Garrett? What about Garrett's truly lousy play calling on the last drive or Newman letting a receiver get behind him when he knew the Saints had to have a TD, or garrett's poor decision to accept a penalty rather than force the Saints to punt?

Roy screwed up, but there were plenty of other screw ups that contruibuted to the loss.

I'm talking about entering the Garrett era, and not necessarily meaning saving this season.
