The seasons over. All anyone has to look forward to is the future and hope that it's brighter.


As for me my belief, as it was before the playoffs, is this team was some upgrades on defense away from being a serious contender. This offseason they have to make those upgrades.

I think we were a serious contender. Which is why this loss was just so gutting.

That being said I'm optimisic for next year. It beats predicting 6-10 at the very least.

The 91 team had a young Troy Aikman and a 21 year old Emmitt Smith who the Cowboys didn't have to worry about losing in free agency after that season. Romo's health going forward is a question as is whether Murray will be back next season plus the defense needs a lot of work.

If Romo was the same age as Aikman in 91 the OP may have a point but he is on the downside of his career. Sadly we wasted too many of his prime years on crappy coaches and coaches in OJT. With defensive upgrade we may very well win a SB next year but chances are we will be in QB purgatory in the next couple of years which will really suck. Best case scenario we win the QB lottery again like we did with Romo or we are stuck with poor to mediocre QB for several years while our core ages.

They contended for sure. More so then I expected they would but I really felt like the lack of a consistent pass rush, and lack of over all talent on defense, would eventually harm us and it did today.

It's not all on the D. They played their guts out but they just didn't have enough in them to get the stops when we really needed them.

I had a blast this year. Next year , if we can add some pieces I think we are going to be quite the force to be reckoned with. I really hope this year was the prelude to something much better.

The point is not every single factor has to be the same for there to be some similarities. But if we want to find one that is a bit more compatible why not the 1996 Denver Broncos?
