Never will understand the gratification that some guys get from starting threads like these. I can picture them in a Romo jersey watching the game Sunday cheering for the Cardinals to "show us once and for all how life will be like without Tony."

Same guys who were quick to jump on here after the week 17 game last year when Orton tried to get us into the playoffs. Us losing that game was a small victory for some of the posters on here.

When the day comes, you should retire from the Cowboys along with Romo. Makes me sick.

It is 100% because of our front office making moves like overpaying vets who aren't work it.



No, I'm not obsessed with Romo. I'm ready to move on from him. He isn't going to lead this team anywhere either. Don't act like he hasn't melted down when we have needed him most. Heck, he looked clueless versus the 2-5 Commanders just 2 weeks ago. It's not easy to find a good QB, and I have no faith in this front office either but eventually, you have to move on. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. The Cowboy's could get lucky at QB.

Our team is still full of holes everywhere though. So we are going to suck for quite some time as long as Jerry is in control.

Again - and I mean this - I sincerely hope I'm wrong and you're right about the future.

I had the Felix and Jenkins off a year. Regardless, he came in to a team that sucked bad. He had one good draft to switch to the 3-4, which coincidentally screwed this defense. His passive version of the 3-4 was never in the top 10. Like I said, great motivator. But he couldn't pick his nose, much less talent. Then of course, he abruptly quits on the team.

Wade surely wasn't the guy who put the team together that went 13-3 the year after Bill left.

I can easily make the argument that Bill's influence off the field was actually more important than his influence on it, considering some of his questionable game plans (particularly the one in the Seattle playoff game).

I love how everyone cries about all of the first round busts while conveniently forgetting all of the first round studs.

"Oh so and so was a bust, and so and so was also a first round bust, so we shouldn't do anything."

In other words paralysis by over analysis, or basically, the same mindset that this F.O. has employed since forever.

If it was up to some of you, we'd never take a crack at drafting a QB.

I prefer to be more proactive.

It isn't about crying about first round busts or applauding the studs .. Drafting a qb in the first round can and has proven to have destroyed franchises and ****** growth of organizations .. Now that doesnt mean to never draft one in the first round ,however you better make sure your getting Peyton manning and not Ryan Leaf ...

I think the thread was entirely fair and I'd also not be so quick to make all encompassing statements about fans who think our quarterback is a pretty good player along with a few Hall Of Famers, former quarterbacks and just about every acknowledged football expert. I would also challenge you to find ONE fan on here who thought Orton losing that game last year was in any way a small "victory." They already knew who the better player was well before Orton ever took the field. Taking the context of your post, I can picture certain people cheering for a back up to come in and play well to spite Romo and Garrett and Jones.

In closing I guess you could retire from the Cowboys until Tony does -- then come back rested and ready to go.

Well, clearly, every team would want to be certain that they're getting Manning instead of Leaf, but obviously it's not that simple, but you can't avoid drafting a QB just because the hit ratio is very low.

That's where you have to trust your talent evaluators, and not too long ago, I would've said we'd be screwed, but McClay seems to know his business.

I'm not even saying we must draft one in the first round, although I wouldn't be against it, as a few recent guys (Kap, R. Wilson, Foles) have had moderate/great success.

It's just time to get a young QB who can grow (even on the bench a few years) with this young team.

I say drop a 2nd on Garrett Grayson or a 3rd Bo Wallace in the draft. We probably arent gonna get a 1st round prospect where we will be drafting, but there will be a few talented QBs on day 2

Yeah, I'm sure if you run the numbers, regardless of all the busts, the probabilities are WAY higher drafting a QB (or any other position) in the 1st rd.
Definitely still a high busy rate, so you better get it right though.

I'd assume that if you count the 32 starters in the league that the 1st rounders may outnumber all the other rounds combined at QB.
Not sure though.

Once again you are assuming just because we have a plan and prepare properly it will be successful. As I've been saying for the 500th time there is zero guarantee we get a good to great QB after Romo and chances are slim we even do.

There are maybe 12 QBs in the league that can play at a consistently high level And if you think our mediocrity is due to Romo and not the front office you are in for a cold slap in the face. Some find 8-8 disgusting, I find it a miracle.

I hope Im wrong and we find a Brady or even a Rivers or Flacco in the draft but would you bet a years salary on a crapshoot? I didn't think so.

You better enjoy and remember every last second of the final chapter of Tony Romo because you might be waiting as long as Dez was waiting for a decent pass from Weeden -

Well, I was around when we had life after Troy, and what I saw today was painfully familiar.

Yep ... Jerry Jones totally unprepared. Don't be surprised if Jerry trades up again, gives up premium draft picks ... for another Quincy Carter.

What in the world...before he went down, he had been playing at a top 3-5 level this season.

The thing is..

I like Romo..

But the bottom line is winning and lasting a season to do so.

Romo hasn't done it and never will.

And as long as we have to continue to struggle yearly to even be competitive..

because Romo is always recovering from some major injuries..

It's just a nightmare to be a fan of this franchise.

I could care less about any Romo stats.

It's about wins and championships.

Romo is nothing more than an over-hyped player on a team of under-acheivers.

Of course he's the best they have.

Becuz the owner can't be overruled as he's also the GM.

No other team operates like this.

And few teams have the negative success rate over the last 17 years as this franchise.

Jones needs to step down as GM if he really loves Cowboy football as much as he says he does.

Jones has gone from directing a football team to directing a Stadium which has never been the overwhelming homefield advantage he declared it to be.

Total failure.

I can come up with a pretty long list of Parcells personel failures in his tenure. First one being trying to take Roid boy over Ware. Lucky the idiots running the show overruled him.

With this OLine and receivers and a running game that will likely be good with or without Murray, a new young QB would be in a terrific position to succeed.

Brandon Weeden does not "represent"

Face it, Orton screwed us royally in the short term.

He did, but he also couldn´t come through for this team when we needed him the most, this team has had so many flaws that they clearly need Tony to be playing at a high level to be able to win, no back up can come in and win, you can get lucky once in a while but not in the long run.
